Won't be playing it for a while but does the game deliver on the promise of showing BB's descent into darkness? I remember hearing a lot of talk about it from before.

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Two? I thought we only knew about mission 51 and there's a unused texture for a chapter 3 though who knows how much cut content that amounts too.
(The repeat missions and being forced to do them instead of being able to just replay the original mission and choosing for yourself one of those extra conditions is also a bit weird.)

Finished the game yesterday and yeah it does feel a bit rushed and then throughout the credits they have these texts of the timeline events trying to tie everything together from ~1942 up until 2014 mixing various real events with the Metal Gear Solid storyline events. (First one happens when you finish mission 46, second part of the timeline happens after the little ending sequence and credits have rolled, unsure if they're skipped if you skip the credits.)
 Spoiler:

EDIT: Overall I really enjoyed the game though but it has it's faults though the gameplay itself is usually pretty solid. Very Happy
(AI can be a bit weird or outright dumb and the maps while large are mostly empty besides collectibles and soldier outposts - feels a bit like Far Cry 2 there - but it makes or well sort-of makes sense within the story.)

(Motherbase itself aside from two - three areas you can actually visit is also mostly just several kilometers of empty space besides some scattered collectible posters and emblems and of course having to traverse the entire thing multiple times if you want to boost soldier morale though in the end I just said fuck it and fired everyone and just kept the A+ and higher ranked staff unless they had special skills that could be of use, still have nearly 600 staff on base now though.)

Did my first bit of multiplayer in this game earlier. I got a call to help in the defense of some dudes FOB who was getting infiltrated. It's quite fun overall, although rather short as he dies quite quickly.

If you're against an idiot that LETS himself get caught (and shot), then sure. But face someone who knows what he's doing and you... well, won't face him Very Happy

Why was this guy an idiot? lol I don't think he was actively trying to get himself caught, that would be pretty pointless. He just went up against the wrong guy,as this dudes level was pretty high, and it didn't help him none that I happened to be online at that moment to jump in and make his task even harder.

I'm not saying HE was an idiot. What I mean was: if you get attacked by a moron or simply someone WAYY less experienced, then OBVIOUOSLY the round's going to end pretty quickly (pretty much like in any MP game). But if it's the other way around, it might last a wee bit longer.

There is already a working one for quite some time, so what "status" are you expecting?

A scene release or something that works on all configurations (I have a phenom II).

If Denuvo is the future, you might want to upgrade to a CPU that the majority of people use and will get an emu/loader first. AMD CPUs are always going to be an edge case, if they even get addressed at all.

I tried a few missions and side-ops with MB soldier and the stealth really is a bit harder. Operating word "bit."
Enemies spot you quicker and from farther away.

The boss battle with metal gear was rather nice. The tank helped a lot.
Now I'm in Chapter 2, the chapter with onyl 1 story mission per 3 new (as far as I've understood). Intro showed some bad stuff coming, looking forward to it.

The weird thing with chapter 2 is there are a bunch of side ops you have to do to progress the story. Given how basic a lot/most of the main missions throughout the game are (no cutscenes, minimal dialogue, go to random base and fulton guy out), I don't know why they didn't just call those main missions.

It's a bit varied but yeah you usually have to finish two to three of the replay missions (Or what to call them, old primary missions but with a new difficulty condition.) before you get a call or some other event happens which triggers a cutscene and the next actual story mission becomes available, at one point you also have to finish a certain side ops series so if you see any yellow dotted missions in the side-ops list you probably have to finish those to get the next story part to unlock.
(And sometimes it just triggers new cassette messages though those are actually very important if you want a better understanding of what happens.)

EDIT: Was answered. Smile

I think it is based on game completion percentage. I haven't done any of those replays yet, but have been getting the new missions to trigger by just doing random side ops like extract the skilled soldier, destroy the tank unit, etc.

bingo, the old missions with new modifiers (extreme etc) are optional. completing side ops, listening to yellow tapes is a valid strategy.

And do that to recieve the Steam key?

Doesn't look too bad. I guess, this won't be available for purchase as a standalone version? Only as part of the main game?

There's no anti-cheat system on Phantom Pain so modded files already give players various advantages and Cheat-Engine scripts or trainers enable everything from godmode or infinite ammo to rapid firing with stuff like rocket launchers and unlimited resources and full S++ ranked staff.

Might be different for this game though if it's going to be separate from Phantom Pain instead of a patch and with focus being solely on online play.

The only game with an online component that konami has on the PC is PES, right? So I'm guessing this will be using more or less the same anti-cheat stuff.

Did he just say October 6th FOR EVERYONE? Are You Serious PC?

Some of the features look really nice, shame most of it isn't even in TPP, would've loved more gear and outfits like that. Hopefully we can use them there or a Mod changes that.

edit: Read a bit on reddit about it, seems there's a bunch of Content for Snake in TPP in as well as female customization, hopefully!

Fuck those trailers. The gameplay trailer for Invasions and the motherbase stuff is what sold me on the game. But it was all bullshit.

Don't get me wrong, gameplay is fun enough in short doses, and the drive to get all the high ranked guys on base is tempting until spoilers, but man what they showed in those trailers were way too different.

And yeah, the cheating thing is a concern. Fortunately it's free, so we'll see.

Ocelot in the trailer is more Ocelot than in the phantom pain. There should be a mod so that in every cut scene he appears in, Ocelot just keeps doing hand fu as he talks.
