Ah ok. Too bad.
Meh, never really liked the combat anyway apart from the challenge early game. They decided to design a new combatsystem while it still plays almost exactly the same as the DNDrules 4 and later. Had to read walls of texts before I could understand the combatmechacnics and what all the attributes do, to find it out its just the same.
Its like going for escortgirls for a change instead of the red light district, having to jump through different hoops to get one, and in the end you get the same girl and the same experience as a 30 euro hooker (never done escort or hookers, dont worry).

Meh,stopped playing after some time, the combat system is unbearable for me.It has some kind of round-based elements but insists on be taken as real-time,micro-management every 2 seconds..bleh. You have almost no control over the fights,it`s just positioning before the fight starts, after that just leftclick/space/select spell, wait ages for it to complete (enemys are somewhere else and the spell doesn`t hit anyone)

Ya I also still think zero combat xp kinda sucks, I see what they are trying to do but it makes combat unrewarding. The other major fuck up with the game is whoever thought activating stealth and playing the whole game in fast forward to find loot was a good idea. Why do so many games fuck this up??

@madness
I don't think they did. They are still using RU tags for some titles.
1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB
2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)

I enjoyed White March (part 1). The main story is nothing to write home about, but there's a couple of nicely written side quests and the focus on combat coupled with the mountains and snow reminds me heavily of Icewind Dale - which I'm sure was the plan all along. There are some relatively challenging fights and well designed areas, some cool concepts and items, nice new abilities and so on. In itself Wild Match wouldn't be too great, but as an expansion to Pillars it works fairly well, as far as I'm concerned. Also, the enhancments to mechanics are great: changes to stealth and AI, stat balancing (perception now gives accuracy, which opens up new build possibilities) fixes to some class problems (like druid's spiritshift, which now remains really, really good until the end of the game), multiclass feats and so on.

cool. I think i'm going to play this next once i'm done with metal Gear. How many hours playtime is this xpn plz. Also I've already completed the base game, but I understand this xpn is set some time after you receive your fort/castle, which is like somewhere in the middle of the game more or less. So if I play this, will my characters be op having already reached the previous level cap. Or do the enemies and encounters scale to your current level?. Ta
edit: I found out about the playtime, about 10-15 hours apparantly. Thanks to the link review Nodrim posted.

You can start doing expansion content at around lvl 8. If you go there later, there's an option to scale expansion content to higher level - but I don't know how well it works, exactly.
Other than that I don't think anything in the game scales, so yeah, very high level characters might be somewhat OP for main game content - then again there's nothing forcing you to do it all at once, so it shouldn't be too bad. My characters are at lvl 13 after the expansion and I still have one thing to do (there's a location White March opens up on the main map - tough content aimed at very high level characters). I'm in Twin Elms in the main game story - I've done a couple of quests there but haven't progressed further yet.
As for playtime - I'm not really sure. 10-15 hours sounds about right, but it might've been a bit longer than that.

Quote: |
Hey, everyone. The Eternity team is currently hard at work on the second part of The White March, but that doesn't mean we don't have time for updates and fixes for Pillars of Eternity and the first part of The White March! In this backer update we will share some of the fixes that have gone into 2.02, show off some cool swag, and let you know about some novels by a couple Obsidianites. In future updates we will discuss some of the things we are doing for the second part of The White March.
Update 2.02
Not only does Update 2.02 introduce some important fixes for the game, but we have even added in GOG Galaxy achievement support for you achievement hunters.
The update is currently live on Steam and will be live on Origin and GOG within a day or two.
Check out some of the changes below:
Major Fixes
GOG Galaxy achievements now work.
A party member using a movement speed modifying item now should walk at the same speed as the rest of the party outside of combat.
Added more optimizations for save and load.
Fixed an issue where some players were not able to talk to the Steward of Caed Nua to start The White March quest lines.
Fixed issues with Respec not working correctly with some edge case abilities and talents.
Fixed some problems that were being reported with self-targeting abilities (Like Frenzy).
Fixed problems with chanters not being able to set their chants properly after they have retrained.
Abilities
All Summoned weapons are now considered universal weapon type.
Fixed a number of issues with Nature's Bounty.
Items
Soulbound weapons are properly unbound when the bound soul dies.
Fixed issue where weapon switching recovery could go negative.
Draining Item Mod should only drain 15% attack speed now.
Shadowflame from Ninguath's Grimiore is now 4th level.
Removed enchantment cost of the Cumbersome item mod.
Lowered the enchantment cost for Spellstriking Confuse and Spellstriking Thrust of Tattered Veil.
Quests
Small Balance changes to the Alpine and Sky Dragon attacks.
Fixed a number of issues with the Devil of Caroc's reactivity in the soul awakening quest.
The Hunter's Favor should properly resolve if Thyrsc and Suldrun are killed before completion.
Stronghold attacks can now happen if the player level is over 13.
Caroc and Zahua now have a place in the stronghold.
Alpine Dragon is now set to never gib.
Vamrel's conversation will only fire once now.
Miscellaneous Notes
Quick items on the ability bar are now sorted by slot.
Afflictions display like other status effects on the party bar.
Fix a number of hotkey binding issues and bugs.
Accuracy for Bestiary entries now account for stances and shields.
Fixed a problem with Accuracy being reported incorrectly until the party enters combat.

New content is what was introduced in expansion - which means several new areas, one bigger questline (expansion storyline), some bigger and smaller quests, a couple of bounties and some really tough content that's sorta outside expansion storyline, made mainly to be a challenge for high level characters (think Durlag's Tower, I suppose that would be the closest example). Patches only brought some new systems and stuff (solo stealth, AI enhancements and so on). I'd say it's enough new stuff for a replay, esspecially since you can change some of the quests available in the main game too (depending on the faction you choose some quests are blocked).

I'll wait for the other part of the expansion and go on an epic binge then. I dislike the fact that the story of the expansion would stop somewhere half way, and by the time the second part came out I probably wouldn't be interested in the game anymore or forgot what the state of all quests was. RPGs are difficult to pick up after you leave them for an extended period of time and not remembering what happened before in a game detracts from my gaming pleasure.
