i started to play this lately,fantastic game but i can`t stand the combat. If it would be turn-based i`d play it till exodus but this realtime-stop mashup isn`t enjoyable for me.
Still,trying my best to finish it at least once [so far i get pwned on every end,no idea if it is a equip issue or not)

Well at least patch 2.0 beta brought an AI, dunno how good it is. But basically you will need to look into the combat system and optimize your chars for it. Also a small party gets much easier wiped out than a larger one.
If still single and in Valewood, a couple of encounters there can be quite hard. Forget about the bear in the cave on your own. You can travel to Gilded Vale where you get 2 new party members and hire more henchman. Especially handy if you want to do the dungeon there.

Yeah, me too. 2 days ago. And the key that I got was not for the expansion pass, but for PoE the main game. 
Still waiting for a proper key after submitting a ticket.

There's some marketing for Pillar's Expansion, then Sawyer praises Beth for listening to the fans when it comes to Fallout 4 thanks to the introduction of many community mods by default (as for the other ones.. ), he would like to be involved in a new Fallout partnership but he's not the one to decide (after New Vegas troublesome partnership, I reckon it would be awkward  ). He's also wondering how Beth will handle romance (New Vegas almost had one with snipin' Cass).
Finally, the idea of something that continues the Alpha Protocol legacy - sort of- would interest Obsidian (*megusta*) though it's just an idea. People have been asking him to use the Archer license and develop Archer Protocol.   |

Having great fun in this now. I rolled a Barb as a main with max int (to maximize carnage AOE) and max might (dumped CON) and he uses a pike right behind the front line to poke everything to death. Last time i played up till about chapter 2 and hated the combat because i only had Eder as a tank, now i rolled a fighter with max resolve to tank along with Eder and am enjoying myself. White March is fantastic so far, did all the side quests i could and now just getting into the Battery.

The expansion doesn't add anything to the story, it is more hack 'n slash.
So you may as well start playing the game and wait for the price of the expansion to drop even further.
I backed the game and payed $ 25 for the game (digital download) and $ 20 for the whole expansion.
People who have waited, get a better deal now (more reselling of cheap keys?). lol

Ugh, I don't want more combat from the expansion. Was hoping for more story and dialogue. Will buy it next year at 75-90% off then.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Expansion seems heavily inspired by IWD.
Problem is IWD was all about good encounter design, something that POE seems to lack in general. Infinity engine also generally had more robust combat than POE.

That is strange. I think the combat is quite good, in fact. Sure, it's no 3.5 DnD ... but then again, nothing is as good as that.

Did they increase the difficulty yet?
I didnt touch this after 20 hours into the game. The combat (path of the damned) became just too easy and tedious. My naked barbarian could almost fuck everything up on his own damagewise from the backrow with a reach weapon. I eventually played with a party of 4 characters instead of 6, and it was still no challenge.
So I decided to wait for a patch (it was a complained from many players, so I expected they would "fix" this).
Original Sin had a much better curve (Original sin became easy relatively later into the game, despite that, the combat was still a lot of fun and dynamic).

Yes the barb had some bugged skills that were fixed. I've been trying to legit do the triple crown solo (PoD, Trial of Iron, Expert, Solo). The difficulty is pretty broken, not very viable without having use cheesy tactics.
