Love & Mercy

Amazing! All the scenes from the Beach Boys studios are FANTASTIC. Dano, Cusack, Giamatti and Banks were all great in this one.

9/10

jesus fucking christ...

insurgent... why.. why do i do these things to myself...

-4/10

and no im not really taking the piss.. on its own, the films about a 4...4.5/10? really really REALLY corny story and dialog, with terrible acting on all parts (even kate winslet.. yeesh, if you can get a bad performance out of her, then congratulations, you know you're a terrible director).. and honestly... ive heard people saying that the story took a back seat to all the action.. but, WHAT action? it was remarkably dull... third hunger games level dull.

plus the ending didn't make a pisser of sense...

 Spoiler:

but yeah, a 4.5/10 for the core of the movie... so why the -4 overall score? that fucking haircut is why. the main actress was NEVER attractive to look at, but that haircut did her no favours because it highlights her face... its shocking to realise someone, somewhere along the line conceived of it, got approval, and then made it actually happen...

TLDR: dumb story, dumb movie, dumb haircut.

Yup, stay away unless you're so much into hip-hop/rap lifestyle. If you like this kind of music you will probably won't even bother with the bad acting and bad cinematography. Gary Gray with another mediocre film. Not a surprise for me.

fantastic (debatable) four

yeesh. i was honestly.. HONESTLY expecting this to be some loud dumb fun, much like the first two films.. which were both kinda silly and cheesy but atleast entertaining...

but this... this...

NOTHING HAPPENED. it was 90 minutes of NOTHING. half - HALF THE FILM of just pissing around until they scienced up a device...then 10 minutes of adventuring, i guess... then then nothing.. just some effects scenes where the characters do nothing interesting.. and then a final 10 minutes of action at the end, which felt hollow and dull and extremely uninspired...

i dont even know why they made this... as an origin story it was boring, and as a way to reengage viewers and fans, it was far too dull to achieve that.. oh and the ending, where they 'pick' their fantastic name.. i winced.. i winced so hard... i knew it was coming, and i still winced.

this film made me appreciate captain america 2, thats how much of a stinker it was. everything bad youve heard about this movie... i didn't want to believe it, i went into it hoping to have at least some fun like i did with the previous ones.. but theres just none to be had. it really is just... ugh i wont even call it crap, just dull... and honestly i cant think of anything worse to say about a film than to just call it dull... even bad films can be fun in a way, but dull films...

but hey... at least it wasn't as terrible as insurgent.

The Crow (1994) - 9/10

Rewatched it on a whim. What can I say, I've got a huge soft spot for the movie Very Happy It's cheesy as fuck and I know it mostly got famous for one reason, but it's still a pretty damn good revenge flick, with supernatural themes presented the right way and even some rather well done action scenes. I love it as much as I did when I saw it as a kid.

I watched it, was a late 80's early 90's teen so NWA was a staple band to listen to..otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.

Id say its a 3/10

Acting isn't great, story is over dramatized from what happened. I mean I get its a movie, and they need to play it up a bit. But I was expecting it to be somewhat realistic and 'raw' to the actual history of the members. But it plays out more as a "underdog superhero " type vibe than the actual mountains they had to climb, inner turmoil, and fucking things up learning the ropes they really went thru.

Overall they took the actual good parts of the story out of the story, and made it the most generic "underdog that no one believed in made it big and showed 'the man' he can overcome" movie stereotype they could.

The D-Train 5/10

Very mediocre movie with good music. Probably would have rated it a 4 if it wasn't for some great oldies Didn't have much 'haha' moments.

World War Z 7,5/10

Lousy adaptation of the book, but knowing what to expect made this second time more enjoyable.
Looked upon it as just another zombie flick. The effects are rather terrible, but they do a whole lot better in picturing an outbreak compared to that crappy: 'fear the walking dead' shit. Had some derp moments here and there, but I forgave worse things for other movies.

san andreas

whats that you say? you haven't seen san andreas? well let me give you a rundown of what happens...

things fall down, "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" things fall down, "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" things fall down, "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" things fall down, "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" things fall down, "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" things fall down, "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" "blah" end.

so much silly drama and eennddless pointless uninteresting dialog... 'broken family' now gets top spot on my shit-list of movie cliches...

2012 did EXACTLY... EXACTLY the same thing... but it was miles better than this. Even though it has THE ROCK in it, id say skip it, and go rewatch 2012... it was silly, but at least it embraced its silliness... san andreas tries to play it far too straight, misses obvious opportunities for fun (they totally shoulda jumped that chasm!! also they shoulda flown through the buliding with the helicopter instead of going around it... come on!!) - the only time it becomes silly is during the wave bit, and its easily the most fun sequence in the film.

Aye, I thought the same. It's a pretty poor disaster movie and those type of movies are already quite mediocre.

I actually enjoyed 2012 especially when Yosemite blew... it was a decent flick. For what it was I knew it would be such an exaggeration but in the end it wasn't all that bad for a world-ending event movie.

San Andreas 2/10 as a disaster movie, and being a dirty bastard I'll let you guess where the 2 comes from J Browman
As an unintentional comedy it's 6/10, I couldn't stop laughing throughout the movie
