So...I know some of you dislike facebook and thats fine with me...personally I do like it alot as I keep in touch with people through it that I dont normally talk to..
...however, today I saw something for the first time (you lot might already know bout this)..
..you can actually pay to get more "likes" on your posts and groups...
to get 500 likes it cost like €35 - and 20.000 likes cost aprox €800.
Seriously??? Wtf??

you dont pay for the likes, you pay for reach. which results in likes and seen etc pp.
nothing new, normal business model and available since years

Actually, its exactly the "likes" you pay for. I mate of mine payed for 1000+ likes on a picture in a picture contest. You could even select if it was to be swedish likes or just random ones.
I do understand why its there - its just that imo its pathetic.
I can understand if a company pays to get more visibile...but still.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Does facebook offer this or a third party company? I saw similar offers for other social media sites, like twitter or instagram followers.

I did a quick search to find the one I quoted the price from...its called "socialboost" (.se) I dont think its something facebook offers themself (no idea though).

Yeah, those pages have little chinese and other south east asians that work for them and create hundreds of profiles. It's not facebook that is doing this. For many people facebook is just a selling platform with potential millions of customers. If you have a product and that product has 300.000 likes, you'll most likely find lots of people who'll just buy it because of it's popularity.

wasn't there a while back, a lot of noise about Facebook removing said likes and comments from such sources, and a lot of people (especially [shitty] artists) suddenly went from millions of likes to a couple hundred thousands?

It's mainly used as a promotional tool - just like the fake reviews you can buy. It makes people think "oh this person/product is popular, he/she/it must be good!". €800 is peanuts for a marketing firm who needs a boost.

The payed-likes system is useless. You can get thousands of likes but only a handful actual page likes. If people don't interact with your page or posts, it's wasted money.

ummm yes and no.
you inflate likes to get popular - then you get naturally popular
get big likes or favs or what not - enough in big numbers you'll get noticed
once you get noticed you can get companies to send you free shit or even pay you to promote their product.

unless the company checks there origin of your followers/likes. if i remember correctly most of the follower and like fakeaccounts you can buy have albanian origin or whatever

No you dont. You can have shitton of page likes but if the likers actually don't interact with your page, your posts aren't displayed in their newsfeed after a short period.
