The comments are really facepalm-worthy though. "Visuals don't matter to me!" yes they do. Visuals define the atmosphere of the game, set the right tone, create a mood. You don't need top-end graphics to do that, but you still need to pay attention to what you're doing as a dev. For me, adding too much colour to Fallout will harm the atmosphere - part of what made the first games so great, was this brooding, dark, depressing feeling - even in cities. FO4 (from early footage and screenshots) so far feels like a stroll down the red neck south.

I don't see how looking at environment with the same dull palette for dozens of hours would somehow improve atmosphere or tone. When it is to complement the art style, then the saturation of color comes into play. But environment in a game is defined by all the clutters, doodads, lighting, etc. If you want it to be immersive, than it needs to look convincing. Have the same colors is not going to do that. Having only dull colors is also not going to help at all.
I never get this fascination with limiting the palette with dull colors, FO3 had green all over, and it looked awful. Bf3 had abundant amount of blue. But to support my argument. Look at Chernobyl. Probably the best real life example of what post-apocalyptic environment would look like. Does it have the same color all over? No. It has a variant of colors, both dull and vibrant. Because that is real, people don't all just decide to not have colorful items around because "we need to have unified tone that convey our atmosphere best". So that needs to be reflected in FO. We need to see that people used to live their normal lives here, civilization has been here before. This isn't Mars, its Earth. Look outside your window, you see vibrant colors, now imagine people are gone. The color will still be there. Especially in indoor where the sunlight is even less likely to erode some artificial color away. Look at your can of coka-cola, its bright red. Blu-ray boxes, plastic bags, any kind of item. So tell me just why would FO4 be "too colorful"?

Of course visuals matter, of course this game's graphics is a fucking disappointment.
If Half-life 3 came out and looked just like HL2 + some added filters people would let the anger take them.
This game looks just like Skyrim, and it is truly disappointing. The only thing that can save it is fun gameplay. We know many things will be 100% identical, like the lock-picking and hacking mini-game. There's probably a lot more which is 100% identical, which quite frankly is lazy by Bethesda. They're making Fallout 3.5. Certainly not Fallout 4 in terms of the game actually looking like a big budget brand new video game.

Bhahaha,no,not really. there are people who would complain and point to the elephant in the room but most would just call you entitled or a hater while beeing happy that it works on their 500$ Facebook&TF2 machine ("oh em gee,i am such a big gamez nerd,Valve best company, iksdee iksdee") since Valve is the bestest gaemz compeny of all tiem!
Fallout 4 comes with revamped mechanics, because "it`s just too complicated with skills" according to Bethesda and a lot of "true Fallout fans since day 1 (of Fallout 3)" see nothing wrong with that. You can get away with a lot of awful things nowadays,do not underestimate how much BS people are willingly able to swallow

I loved FO2 and was disappointed, that FO3 wasn't an isometric game anymore.
But to he bonest, today i prefer this game to be in full 3D. You just have much better immersion, better freedom and of course a high variety of different mods.

Denuvo would probably destroy script extenders and with it some really good modding capability

They could always run Denuvo for a month or two to maximise early sales before patching it out. They aren't releasing the toolset until next year, which they could claim is the beginning of "sanctioned" modding. Seems unlikely, but who knows these days.
