Well I guess that's the crux of it. Would they be making them for existing fans of the old games, or would they be trying to gain a market of new players? Case in point, me. I've never played any of the series before, but I'd probably play the remakes if they came out on PC.

By definition if they are remaking something that is popular they count on the existing fans (THEY are the reason it is popular -> THEY are the reason it gets remade).
For you that you haven't played them whether they release MGS1remake or MGS6 it shouldn't make any difference, you'd be equally interested to play them.

I liked 4 personally. A lot of cut scenes and movies but I still really enjoyed it. My faves still being the Metal Ger Solid (first one) and peace walker. I just bought this and ready to fire it up. Looking forward to it haha!.

Not necessarily. Being multiplatform as it is, there will be a whole bunch of people for who MGS5 is their first game in the series. If it is as good as all the reviews are saying, and it sells really well, then there will no doubt be a reasonably large group of people who would be interested in seeing the rest of the series for the first time (and unable/unwilling to play them in their original formats).

For the last time my opinion (detailed):
1) New fans will be equally interested to play MGS6.
2) Remaking the games means they will have to match and exceed Kojima's vision or there will be OUTRAGE 
Meaning:
a) A so so new game (I don't have high expectations without Kojima and his team) works for both new and old fans. Old fans will be cautious but they will check it out anyway.
b) A so so remake will lose existing fans (this is far from a "forgotten" franchise) and might even get bad press (journos LOVE Kojima).
Conclusion: It is not in their best interest to make remakes unless they do them right. Which is doubtful.
That is all.

PC version was already on v1.01 i think. This is more likely the beta update from yesterday pushed to public (v1.02). Regarding issues with some old CPU's not being able to start the game.

Surreal experience playing MGS on a PC. Feels a lot like MGS4, but without the corridor feel.
Oh, and it's bloody superb! I suppose the purist in me wishes it wasn't a prequel, but that's just a fan speaking.
But DAMN... did you SEE the graphics? Sure, the textures are not always pin sharp, but everything just looks good - at max settings, on my 970 setup, at a constant 60fps.
Hey Ubi, Rocksteady, etc... are you watching? THIS is how you make a AAA game worth paying for.
I'm currently running with monitor surround turned on (not in MGS), so I can't enable DSR just yet, but I will, and I get the feeling it will work just fine.
I've yet to see anything outside of the desert, I assume there will be other locations (I've deliberately not read up on the game), can anyone confirm (in not too much detail if you please).
And yes, it has that... unique MGS 'feel' - especially the controls. Irritating, but they work.
Only thing I find odd is, being 1984, and they have iDroids? Tech in this game seems far beyond what it should be for the era. I almost expect Otacon to pipe over the iDroid about my psyche levels or something 
Oh yeah, buy it, it's petty good.

Tech and characters are retconned/reimagined in each game as Kojima's imagination demands. Besides it has been long established they have perfect human clones in the 70s.. it's not exactly our world.
