So what's it really about?

I'm 23 and I'm astounded someone else speaks for OUR generation that way, it's totally not true |

http://www.pcpowerplay.com.au/feature/preview-star-wars-battlefront-missions-mode,408174
Quote: | Missions plays out like a loosely structured bot match, designed to appease those uninterested in Battlefront’s competitive component, while simultaneously acting as training for what to expect from the core game.
Like some of the competitive modes, players start by selecting weapons and gear. Like recent Battlefield titles, selecting one weapon allows you to browse the other options and view respective strengths and weaknesses in relation to the weapon you have equipped. For the demo, there were four weapons available: the accurate DH-17, the fast-firing DLT-19, the ranged A280C, and the standard sidearm of Stormtroopers, the E-11.
The latter option fast became my go-to weapon, both in Missions and in Walker Assault mode (more on this in a later preview) because of its high damage output. Gadgets are separated into ‘Hands’, which feels like a semi-borrowed idea from Titanfall, given the support items are presented as cards. Assumedly, in the final game these Hands will be able to be customised with unlockable items.
In this particular demo, there were two Hands on offer. The first included a grenade launcher, Ion Shot power-up and a jetpack. The second contained a thermal detonator, personal shield and a powerful ion torpedo. Everything operates on a cooldown principle, meaning the longer you live, the more you’ll get to use the items. Dying isn’t particularly advised in this mode, either, as both players share limited lives.
It was difficult to go past the easy escape options afforded by the jetpack, particularly when the personal shield alternative provides temporary protection at the cost of being able to fire your weapon. This isn’t too much of a concern, given how stupid the AI is. They seemed to run predetermined paths, regardless of whether I was tearing into their ranks with accurate blaster fire, or heading in the opposite direction.
A lot of the waves of enemies ended with me racing against my co-op buddy to find the last hapless Stormtrooper on the map to start the next assault. As with any horde mode, the waves get increasingly trickier, but this equates to different enemy types and more of them, mostly, not smarter troops working together to bring you down.
By securing pods between certain rounds, players can access various power-ups that tend to translate to heavy weapons that make killing the stupid waves of Stormtroopers even easier. Occasionally, a mini-boss comes at you in the form of an AT-ST, but considering you can chip away at its health with your blaster, and all you have to do is stay behind it to avoid taking damage, it’s not a particularly challenging task.
I’m eager to see how this mode is improved upon in the months leading up to the release of Star Wars Battlefront. That being said, while the Star Wars nerd in me will want to play every part of the game, I don’t foresee much longevity in Missions, especially if they don’t have much more to offer than what I played. |

They really need to dumb everything down to the maximum ey... another few years and the games will play itself. Especially when so many kids out there just watch other people play.

No problem, all will be fixed in the next Battlefront! There will be 2 more Star Wars movies after the upcoming one, so expect 2 more Battlefront games...

I have no logical explanation, as to why this game is so fucking dumbed down, compared to the previous Battlefront and Battlefield games.
Hopefully this game will burn so fucking hard.

But I think this has been discussed before. They said that Battlelog is a Battlefield thing and they were working on something different for Battlefront. Doesn't mean it won't have similar features.
I haven't been following this for a while though, so perhaps there was more information on that front since then.

http://starwars.ea.com/starwars/battlefront/news/fight-for-pod-control-in-the-action-filled-drop-zone-mode
Quote: | Continuing our odyssey through the game modes of Star Wars™ Battlefront™, our next stop is an action-filled, tactical mode where you’ll need to keep an eye on the sky. Let’s talk about Drop Zone.
Similar to “King of the Hill”-style experiences, the objective in Drop Zone centers on drop pods falling through the atmosphere onto the planet surfaces. In tight 8-versus-8 matches, Rebel and Empire teams fight to capture and control these pods.
When you locate a drop pod’s landing site, make your way to it and trigger the short claim process. Your team will win if it captures five pods, or control the majority of them after the 10-minute match is up. If a pod is constantly changing possession with no team able to defend it long enough to claim it, another pod will be sent down to break the stalemate. Then, there would be two pods that the teams have to gain control over.
Drop Zone is all about action and quick thinking, forcing Rebels and Imperial troops to always be on their feet. Though captured pods need to be defended, static players standing in a cluster too close to their pod always run the risk of being hit by explosives or a well-placed Orbital Strike. |
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
