Anyone know a good program for bulk uninstalling programs on Windows?
I found a few but they are 'attended' as in I need to sit here and click yes, no, ok, and/or finish on all the programs anyway. Seems to defeat the point.
Trying to clean up a machine someone gave me with like 50,000 bloatware and crap they installed, they dont need.
There has be be one thats made so you just pick all the things to uninstall and it removes it with the default settings/button options.

Why not just quickly reinstall? Seems less hassle than what you're trying to do now..

If RivaUninstaller can't do it ... then just do it yourself, or just do a clean reinstall.
Many programs have custom uninstallers, so it's not as easy as you hope. IMO.

Because they got all kinds of work stuff on it, tax info, programs setup for some car parts database lookup they use that they dont have the disk for, and even if they did they dont know the login for it as its auto login, and the guy that installed it quit 2 years ago...and so on |
Well like VGA says, I think you're in bad luck, you'll have to manually clean it.. But still think making a backup of those important files and a reinstall is the way to go in your case.
Especially seeing they don't even know the login, so what's the point of cleaning if you only do 50% of it? Seems like you are now their IT guy, so do shit according to how you deliver service to those and not clean up the mess others left behind. Especially if you are talking about a nuke that has gone off on that machine (judging on your first post).

Yea its a old neighbor that owns a mechanic shop. And found out I did 'computers' for work and he never had an IT guy..so I sort of became theirs, every few months they ask me about a PC setup on there, or networking is down (usually cable modem issue..its just a modem and a router setup).
More of a 'favor to a friend' thing. I know computers and fix his if its easy, he knows cars and fixes mine if its easy.
But yea seems Im stuck taking all the crap the guys have installed overtime off by hand. its not so much infected with anything as it is filled with useless crap, most of it running on startup..like what you get when you goto the shady flash game sites, or install 'free' games...then they tried to fix it themselves with the cleanup tools that people find on the first google results of "speed up your old PC" that just installs more crap than it cleans.

Yeah that defo sounds like a lost cause trying to clean that up. Such programs have nasty re-installers.
Just backup whatever they need, if it's full programs test them on another rig before wiping and clean install still seems like your safest bet. Otherwise you might waste hours and still can't get rid of everything, resulting in eventually still doing the re-install

Sounds like nobody is listning to the guy, the owner has no login details for certain software running already and is obviously a big part of his livelihood.
Mike you may clear some of this shit up but in the end you are going to be asked to do further shit with it due to not doing a fresh install. It is the kind of help you have fallen into where you will be constantly pestered for small fixes or concerns going on.
It is not the best solution but I would say the guy needs to think seriously about redoing it all. Even if it seems daunting. But you can of course at first try to clean it thoroughly but warn him shit may hit the fan later.

Uh I did?! Read my last post....
The logins and shit isn't an issue, can all be back-upped as long as you search for the correct files and entries (in register for example).
It's really lesser of a hassle to do a few back-ups than to have to come back every week because shit re-installed itself and eventually STILL have to re-install the whole rig...

Not malware uninstaller.
Just general uninstaller for programs. The malware I took care of.
The actual point of what I wanted to do was logical, just because we use windows and aren't all "Im leet and use *nix, because well..its not windoze lawl" doesn't mean we are clueless.
Perhaps leaning to read to the level of expertise that you hate windows would clear up what I was needing.
It was uninstalling the tons of crap that came with the PC install 'cd' they ran, and various random things they installed that was tedious. Like wifi manager (it had no wifi). sound card tray and enhancement shit that started up (they had no speakers hooked to it), java and pdf viewer quick launch (they didnt need either)..etc. And random stuff the guys using it installed looking for a tiff viewer, and mpg player..etc.
I actually found what I needed:
IObit Uninstaller helped with a lot, 3/4 of the things it auto uninstalled. only a handful of things that had strange prompts did it pop up.
Check all the programs to uninstall, let it run answer a prompt every now and then that has no 'default' selected answer and its done.
