friend of mine still is stuck in the DVD age and im trying to help her out with some movies.
Important is the subtitle part. Of course i googled first but i get like 75 solutions.
I wondered if any of you guys got solid way of doing it with few steps.
Basicly any MKV with x264 codec/AC3/DTS to a PAL DVD. no menus needed. srt subs convert to DVD selectable subs.

its useless, the resolution and framerate will fuck up. tell him to buy a pi (the pi2 doesnt support analog video output though) and put on openelec or kodi. basic kits are cheap, you only need a sd card (min 4gb) and a min 1a power supply (most mobile phone usb wall adapters are 1a) and ofc the pi. if he needs analog output -> look on ebay, used pi1 model b should be available very cheap. think he uses old crt tv? cause otherwise he might be as smart as hooking up his laptop right?

Haven't done this in long time, but DVD Flick used to be great, try it.
Try without framerate conversion at first, most standalone players actually can handle both PAL and NTSC framerates and resolutions, just set the disc to region free.

fuck dvds, the money and time and electricity you waste (incl. encoding and burning) is even with only a few flicks more expensive than buying a streaming client to connect a external harddisk/usb stick with movies on it (harddisc excluded from this bill). and as i said you get problems with the framerate when reeconding bluray mkvs to pal dvd

but that is how girls are. don't you love it too? if she atleast would do this shit on her own but no poor paintface has to do all this shit now and for every upcoming movie.
you are right janz, he should tell her to shut up and take this external hdd with full of movies and plug it into the tv or get another person who does this shit for her.
