Hehe, did that quite some years ago.
Think the only burned stuff I have laying around now are the cd's with my map creation and modding stuff from the SOFII days and some old work and school related stuff.

The wonderous thing of HD capacity being huge and cheap and high speed internet.

Anywho, congrats with some extra space! Very Happy

Facepalm

What a triplet of dunces Reaction
I'll be saving mine, lots of plastic waiting to be re-purposed in there.

I mean, you never know when I'll need to make some coat-hangers, plates, glasses, haircombs, etc

They are being recycled Smile

Besides - the thread you linked me to...if I need any of those materials I can get them at work. I work with most metals Smile

Edit: Or you thought I threw my retor computers away? Nevah..I collect those and buy loads of "new" stuff every year. Its just the cds/dvds I wanted to get rid off.

Hahah I know that feeling Ankh Very Happy
Still keep some of them in the attic, but the majority of the CDs has been either digitally murdered or just given away (to cousins, old friends..with worse internet connection than me - not easy ).

They really were too many, because back in the late 90s I was the only one here in my little area who owned a badass CD burner and it become like a ghetto business for games and cheesy music compilations Razz

Speaking of which, did you guys try to scan those old discs for errors? Recently, I was scanning some of my old game discs with DVDinfo and some of them had damaged sectors. The discs were fucked up beyond recovery. I'm afraid of that theory that burned discs have an expiry date. Confused

They do, as does a lot of flash memory like SD cards as well. I've ran into the same situation you described many times with CDs and DVDs being unreadable after several years - even when they're in pristine "physical" condition. They just start to break down after a time Sad

They were burnt 11-12 years ago. Like you said, they were stored in nearly perfect conditions, no humidity, sunlight etc. Just sitting on the shelf ! They have a short life then. Sad

Here is a example. Project IGI burnt 14 years ago on a CD-R Ritek media. Look at those bad sectors. Completely FUBAR!

I wonder how many of you pick up EVERYTHING in games and never throw it away, just in case.
Like in Fallout/Elder Scrolls, where you can pick up just about anything.

I do, and it pisses me off. I end the games often without using anything... Because you never know when you'll need something you've picked up.
