Yeah Allegorithmic's PBR tools are pretty cool. Water is always the give-away though. That must be the calmest ocean ever.

Got shit in your eyes? Laughing
Some scenes do look obvious bad, but most are looking really good. Just not some animations... But hey, what do you expect from a 2 man team in 2 weeks?! Rolling Eyes

No so they can run through the map at high speed showing of motion blur to hide shitty frame rates Very Happy

Standing around is all good and twiddling the mouse, but slow pace through terrain is a ton different than using sonic to hyper speed "effects".

I doubt that was the reason.
As you can see, instead you get to notice the massive object pop-ins after he stops moving

https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?78220-Unreal-Engine-4-9-Preview

Unreal Engine 4.9 is available as a preview/beta with initial support for DirectX 12 but it's still experimental and requires using a command-line parameter.

EDIT: I assume 4.9 will have the same basic support for DirectX 12 in it's final version too and full support is planned for UE4 version 5.0 (Which might or might not be called UE5)

Epic themselves regularly release free content that you can use (You should be able to sort or filter it to only show these.) although the marketplace is indeed also full of all sorts of paid content ranging from simple 3D models to entire scenes.
(I'd say the prices are sometimes completely crazy but it does cost to create the content yourself too or have other developers on your team do it.)

EDIT: As for UE4 itself and this 4.9 version you can install it completely free of charge if you check the preview versions available, however the older Epic demos might not work with it until new versions are released which usually happens when the engine goes stable.

EDIT: It's under "Learn" in the launcher. Smile
(And "Community Samples" in the marketplace for third party content.)

(For a bit of a shock check the developer requirements for "A Boy and his Kite" if you plan to run it in the editor as that requires a hell of a lot more resources than the stand-alone version does.)

You mean 4.10. It's software versioning. It goes on infinitely.

https://www.unrealengine.com/blog/free-infinity-blade-collection-marketplace-release

Epic Games has just *given* away $3m worth of Infinity Blade assets to anyone that wants to use them in their UE4 projects. No strings, no attachments, all royalty-free and available to use in any commercial or free project. Supposedly these were all the assets originally developed for use in the cancelled Infinity Blade Dungeons Smile
