This is fucking sad.

See? Braben would have to sneak code into his game that self-destructs your PC to top that.

Nah, I rate his doings still higher on the scale of worse than blatant money milking. To some extent Braben is also guilty of that.

I will say: I'll most likely end up with a disdain for both Braben and Roberts when everything is finished. Razz

Well not seeing myself buying all this crap, i do understand that the real fans, the ones banking this and that played the original WC, nowadays are on a stage of life (older hehe) in which they have and can dispense a lot of money for a wet dream to come true. And this is looking very, very good.
Myself im looking more forward to Squadron 42, that hopefully will have a good dynamic campaign.

For Squadron 42 i don't think so. Now what i did see:

They have a lot of ships to see (and interact) in the hangar. But you can only choose to fly from the menu 5 or so ships (some are variations). Tried flying in an aegis (?) alone and.. MEH...seemed a little unfinished.

Them i tried the Hornet military model for a dogfight with the aliens.. and, oh man, the game came alive, the dogfights are great Very Happy Those asteroids are almost more dangerous than them Laughing The SP campaign will be great, i can feel it.
But nobody cant vouch for the millionaire teens ramming ships on each other on multiplayer. Rolling Eyes
Loved the hornet cockpit. IMO captures the feel and looks of the old scimitar fighter from WC 1 & 2 more than the hornet of that time.. Feels just great!

Well going back to try the race mode tracks, and for sure for more dogfights with other ships!!!

From the game testing 20 min ago. Cooling for the GFX advised. Very Happy

No 60fps = no fun.

(you get 60fps with ease if your ship is destroyed, and you're watching as a spectator - too much detail methinks.)

But... but... but they Promise© (just like Braben Promised© offline-mode, amirite?) they'll shut down the swipe-credit-card-here options when the game launches! Because servers for MMOs are completely free to run. They'll shut down the shop so you can buy all these only with honest work in-game with in-game credits!

Honest!

I guess your troubles are more in the complexity.. the ship has 42 buttons to control, but hey, not all at once!! Cool Face

As for the modules.. who wants (or has cash to spare, i know i dont), buys them. For the ppl who doesnt want, the entry fee is 34 bucks for the basic trader/fighter ship. Now.. if you want a premium fighter bomber for a five ppl crew.. well, well..

I know, i know.. we all drive, and there are Ferrari´s for sale, but isnt required to buy one to cruise on the road. I guess, you can bring your puny skoda and have fun with it. Just dont say you wont drive because there are better cars for sale and someone could and has bought a better one than yours, thats a bit unreasonable, or not? Rolling Eyes

This is the basic Ship: Ship only is 19,68€
AURORA ES – if the basic Package (Aurora ES+SelfLand Hangar+Starting Money: 1,000 UEC+3 Month Insurance+Digital Star Citizen Manual+Squadron 42 Digital Download+Star Citizen Digital Download+Beta Access)=
€34.44 EUR Tax Included:

It's not going to happen, dude. There will be Reasons© why, the fangirls will projectile squirt even more cash at the screen, and anyone that feels slighted will - as Morph so rightly said - simply be called "haters" and ignored. Just like in Elite Scandalous.

Today is 15 august. I say squadron 42. Hate me later. From what ive experienced (have you tried? no? Then im more qualified, sorry.) with decent hardware it plays just fine. And if it was a single player dynamic campaign it would already setted new standarts for this kind. And its PC ONLY. Keep hating, on this one ill choose to suport. PC deserves it, not some lame ports, but something born and breed for PC, that consoles can only dream. Yes hardware reqs are high, the stakes are high, fuck im high Laughing But this is what PC gaming is all about, always was, break new grounds. Play as an adult because its complex. Yes and its complpex because we need it. I need it. WC deserves it.

God im drunk.

Very Happy

No.

Just no.

Who in the world would spend this much money on a game???
Does anyone remember the time when X and X-tension came out? You only had to buy the game once.

Freelancer anyone?

And also, they already raised 87 million usd. Does anyone know any other game that raised that much??? Why in the world would they need more? To do what?

Hey, we have a new awesome FPS. However, for some ridiculous reasons, you have to BUY all the weapons to play it, because why not. This is Evoland, but with real money.

I'm really sorry for the gaming industry that it came to this.

I hope this will be pirateable because I'm not spending a cent on something that is essentially a milking cow.

Right, because your fangirl opinion over a free demo you've been playing for all of 20 minutes supersedes the opinions of those of us that have owned the game since the start. "Real fans" Rolling Eyes Why don't you go the moronnoodles route of lol'ing about "potato" PCs while you're at it? Anyone with a negative opinion about a product they own? "HATERZ!" Fucking "hater" is the fangirl jeer equivalent of shouting "Patriarchy!"

Sleep it off Rolling Eyes

In all honesty, I appreciate that some people might be jacking themselves raw over the pretty polygons, and that's fine, I'm glad they can get excited by it. I just wish they'd stop being colossal twats to those that have a less rosy opinion.

My specs should handle a game like this with relative ease. And yet I cannot get close to 60fps (which is the standard of course).

Oh and I've had the ... demo-thing from the very beginning.

Virtually EVERY OTHER GAME I HAVE I can run 60 fps, with little or no settings tweaking.

ANYONE who tells me or others on here that the DEMO is absolutely fine and to stop complaining seriously needs to fuck off back to RSI's cum-filled forums, and stop coming here to spread misinformation. I have no issues with discussions, even fact-filled arguments, but to come here and blatantly spew the shit that I see every day in regards to this messed up pile of unfinished bile really needs a forum ban. It adds nothing to the discussion.

Squadron 42, the singleplayer campaign, is *supposed* to be out this year, so no, the "game" isn't 1 year out.. the Star Citizen completed product is. Though in all reality, there's no way SQ42 is done this year, not a single part of it.

Oh of course, how stupid of me, I can't imagine how I could possibly have missed that.

I mean, it makes perfect sense to release modules of a game unfinished and unoptimised. Sorry, but this is the typical excuse I hear from defenders of the RSI realm - If you're trying to sell the game to people - especially with a free weekend, you at least make the game playable on hardware other than high-end Intel CPU's.

The game is so graphically rich, it should be maxing out my 970. But it doesn't. Not even close. Too much crap done on the CPU for Reasons©.

I can run any Cryengine game at 60fps. This should be no exception.

And, IF they are using the 'unfinished' excuse, make a BIG DEAL about it.

There is so much to hate about this game, the company, the business model, that the ultimate game is a long, distant memory now.

SQ42 will be a horrid, mashed up mess of an episodic rip off of a game, and I expect it to be nothing more than a glorified storefront for the 'main game'

And I wonder if Episode 2 will be 'Delayed for optimising/polishing/cleaning shit off - and will coincidentally release FREE with EVERY COPY OF SC!*

I'm not defending them, I'm just stating facts. And the facts are, that the game is long way from being finished and that dev studios optimize their shit in the last cycle of game production. Simple as that Smile

Obviosuly, it's completely different story if things will improve in terms of optimization, but we can't know that NOW.
