Oooh! You can run! Just takes a while to get going eh? lol.
Maybe if I had not heard about that the game would take 12 hours as opposed to the 6 hours I read somewhere.

Have you tried the running? I have it downloaded on my ps4, but haven't had the time to try it yet. Maybe tomorrow. What is your psn id btw? You seem to buy all the new games, much like me

It lasts 6h without running.
All reviewers didn't know about it.
So yeah it would probably last 3h with running now.

Completed in about 6 hours yep. I did enjoy it though! Lush visuals, especially when the weather changes and it rains! That was great! Really nice lighting effects and shadows too. The game is also vast compared to what I was expecting! I tried to find all the radios but there are so many forks and backtracking I dont think I managed it! Pretty sure I got most of them though. Interesting story and intriguing ending with several unanswered questions, much like an episode of Lost really! Cant see me playing it again but I felt it was money well spent
For fuck sake after The order 1880 seconds you would think devs would know not to release videos instead of videogames. I am so glad I did not buy this crap.
So Rapture is out finally, after three long years, and the critical reception has been amazing. One thing that is coming back however is the walk speed and lack of sprint function, and actually we’ve got a confession to make.
You can sprint in Rapture. Hold down R2 and it builds to sprint speed over a couple of seconds.
And that deserves an explanation. So here goes: there was a mess-up. And we’re really sorry about that.
A couple of weeks before the game went to final, Santa Monica did a last round of playtesting. At this point, the game included an autosprint. That meant that if you kept moving, you’d gradually ramp up to a run speed, specifically to deal with issues with how long potential back-tracking could take, given the game’s non-linearity. The problem was, playtesters wanted to be able to trigger it themselves. It didn’t matter about the speed, it was the psychology, the choice.
So together with Santa Monica, we made a late call. We replaced the autosprint with aN R2 trigger hold, keeping the gentle ramp up to main speed. This then needed testing, because it potentially threw out all of the pacing we’d been working on for the last year, plus could cause issues with accidentally parkouring into places you couldn’t escape from, creating game-breaking bugs. All this took time.
And then suddenly launch was right on top of us, and something had been missed. The controller icon in the options menu was missing the sprint instruction, and it hadn’t been localised. Localisation takes about 24 hours, but because the UI is build in Flash, it would have to be changed, and that would mean a full round of testing before creating a patch- about 4-5 days through the global QA pipieline, which we’re doing now, but wasn’t ready in time for release. It’s in the online manual, but not at the start of the game.
We probably should have announced the run button before launch, but we didn’t. That was a bad call, and we’ve paid for it in the reviews. But the most important thing is that we get the word out to players, so here we go – although we’d love you to take your time and explore Yaughton at a slow, steady pace, if you need to backtrack or get around more quickly, hold down R2 – it’ll take a few seconds before you are running fully, but it will speed your movement up.
And sorry for those of you who already played and were frustrated by the speed. Hopefully it didn’t spoil the experience too much for you, and knowing you can get around faster if you need to will make you want to return to explore more.
Finally, there were some serious issues with the PSN store for the European market. SCEE have worked to fix it and hopefully it should all be working now. This one isn’t our fault, but we really appreciate your patience and hope you can get hold of the game and theme now.
Also this may be useful for those completionists who have the game but havent completed it. Im trying to keep it spoiler free as possible.
The start of the end sequence occurs when the substation opens. After this point it seems you cannot return to the main game so make sure you have done all you need to before entering the substation. I fell into this trap when reloading the game after the credits only for it to be at the start of the end sequence and now cannot go back without starting over
A lengthy interesting read for anyone interested or having completed the game but didnt fully understand it including intriguing theories on the ending and unanswered questions.
Studio co-founder takes PC indie game, signs life away to a restrictive publisher, whines about how hard it was and how much worse it made her life, then quits the studio.
Quote:
Working with a publisher made me extremely unhappy and very ill. In the end I didn’t even recognize myself anymore- I had turned from a joyful, fun-loving, creative, silly, funny person into a short-tempered, paranoid, unhappy, negative heap. So much of the stress that I experienced was caused by what I see as the desperately toxic relationship that I was in. I can’t go into detail here for the reasons above but what I can say is that I look back at the way we were treated and it still makes me shake my head with disbelief. Big business and the creation of art have always been extremely uncomfortable bedfellows and making Rapture proved to be no exception for me. I don’t want to do this anymore- in fact I can’t do it.
Aw, boohoo. Somehow I can't find it in my heart to actually care.. you pissed away your company by signing with a known restrictive publisher, you pissed away the fanbase you had garnered, the reputation you had built, because you were chasing the money. Now you tell me; was it worth it? Doesn't seem like it.
Reminds me of their initial defence during the announcement of PS4 exclusivity;

“Dear Esther fans were very much in our thoughts, but enough of us are multi-platform gamers to make this work for us,” explained Pinchbeck. “And we’re in this for the long game, so I can’t see us not returning to PC, or doing whatever we can to keep that fan base as we owe them a great deal.”
You're not welcome back. Seriously. Keep the game.

I can't speak to the degenerative illness though, that part is friggin' awful and I feel genuine sympathy for her and anyone else that has to suffer through constantly worsening diseases
