 |
I just bought one to replace my Driving Force Pro.
I was so moved by the experience I just needed to share.
If you have ever considered buying a wheel, or upgrading from a really old, or non force feedback one, and you are still unsure, let me just help you with your decision.
Do it. Do it now.
I am aware the G27 is not new, nor is it the best on the market. But, where wheels are better than cheap, but not hideously expensive like Fanatec or Thrustmaster, the G27 reigns supreme.
The wheel is as close to a real driving experience you will get for £178. the feedback is glorious in its smoothness, and the fact you can replace the wheel with any real wheel you like (provided you buy the adapter) is just a bonus. The pedals are solid steel. They work and can also be upgraded with better springs.
I just drove a Mclaren P1 around the Ring, and I only spun out a few times. Trust me, for me this is a serious accomplishment. The FEEL of a properly good wheel is undisputed, especially when used to really old tech like the Force Pro.
It's the same feel as when experiencing Ancient Aliens in HD on a 50" led tv for the first time, when you were watching it in SD on a 40".
Probably better.
Now I just need the Rift, and you may never see me here again.

My fanatec GT3's price (with two stick shifters and pedals) was only 150€ ... Well I got it used from pax
But Kaltern your advice is coming to late. Wheel prices are through the roof, project cars made a lot of people (especially consoleros) go out and buy wheels

Nah not shitty cos the price will be prohibitive. Besides, I could easily sell this g27 for what I paid for it.
Amazon still sell the g27 for £178, which is 50 cheaper than most places.
g29 looks like a GT with g27 innards.

€399 for the G29 (which indeed looks like a lovechild between DFGT + G27)? They'd better deliver then, because that puts it in T500RS territory. They've got a lot to improve on the G27 to rival the T500RS
Not just the FFB (which is decent on the G27, but on the T500RS it's just crazy..go try Pax' out Pumpy), but the pedals as well. The only pedal sets that are better* than the T500's are Fanatec's CSR Elite and ClubSport. But they also cost €200 and €400 without even a wheel.
The #1 budget wheel is still the DFGT though. What that thing offers at its pricepoint is ridiculous, the FFB on it is just spot on. Shit pedals, silly sequential shifter but I'll be damned if the FFB isn't worth it for that money.
*Excluding 100% full-blown sim-gear that runs in the thousands obviously.

I have and there is actually a video here with me on the phone while driving with the T500RS btw for me the best improvement compared to my GT3 is the H-Shifter on the T500RS which just feels massive and mechanical, whereas the one on my GT3 feels like soon-to-break-plastic :'(

Aye. I bought G27 couple weeks ago for $160. Crazy awesome price if you ask me.
It's amazing so far, sucks about ps4/xo one support tho.

Made the wheel adjustable height/distance to pedals/tilt and painted black, all good now.
So much more fun compared to sitting in front of your PC.

Track simracers seem a bit meh to me atleast and rather unrealistic if you ask me, they all seem to have insane amount of understeer the moment you even touch the brakes while turning the wheel.
And only good rally game still is, Richard Burns Rally. Dirt Rally has barely any support for FFB at all and just doesn't feel right.
So stick to RBR if you ask me.

Give Euro truck sim a go if you aren't into racers, quite fun to play with a wheel.
If you still don't like the wheel, send it to me
I still regret not bringing my g27 to Sweden (space during the move was the problem) Ah well, at least my buddies son has a blast with it!

I'm actually looking to buy this used, but I want to use it both on PC and PS4 ( mostly here ). Did anyone get it to work on the ps4?
It's either this or the Thurstmaster T150 which has PS4 compatibility.
