Only liked The Burning Crusade expansion after that expansion with the WoTLK it didn't interested me much. Same with Cataclysm. Since then have never played WoW again. And cba to grind/farm and play each day of WoW anymore too much of a hassle. I had my fun in TBC, which was the best expansion and still hard. Black Temple and sunwell raids damn good times! never got my shield from Illidan you bastard :/.

I agree no one wanted illidan nor arthas dead but because of wow, it did happen.
Now, they are just rehashing the same game over and over because they noticed they are finally running out of ideas after killing every Warcraft characters one by one.
The problem is they shouldn't have had illidan dead in the first place if you ask me. Because of this their expansions stories are a laugh and don't make any sense at all.
Next expansion they will bring arthas back I guess, but honestly while I'd be happy to have him back, why did they even bother to kill him in the first place ?
Anyhow, can't wait for Warcraft 4, the true follow up to the Warcraft lore. With wow vanilla of course, then the story became laughable since they had to justify every expansions.

No Illidan was killed because the writers for Burning Crusade haven't played WC3. The entire expansion story made no sense. They thought he was a big bad guy working with the Legion. With WotLK, Metzen made sure the story was proper again. Arthas was killed for the right reasons. Illidan, along with Kael and Vashj were disservice by the stupid expansion. That's why people have been asking for Illidan in every Blizzcon. They've hinted his return in one of the quest where you go back to the Black Temple, hinting on what had happening there secretly.
So no, Arthas isn't coming back. He died a hero and his story and Wc3 as a whole ended. I have no idea if Illidan is brought back as a villian, or otherwise, but BC story needed some retcon.
For those who don't give a shit about warcraft lore, yes it would seem like a rehash. But let's be honest, people will always complain about WoW and what Blizz do in general.

Why wouldn't you want them dead? Do you like stories that just keep going in circles and never resolving anything? I certainly don't.

I think they are bringing back illidan as a villain as far as I understood (which is their way of justifying the demon hunter class).
So yeah seems a rehash to me 
And yes I did finish wc3 and the frozen throne... The final battle between illidan and arthas fighting for the frozen throne was awesome too.
There is absolutely nothing like that in wow.
The scripted illidan track by maiev in wow bc in black temple was a big joke compared to the feeling of it in TFT.
But that's probably because in TFT you play as her point of view them as illidan point of view and then finally as arthas point of view..

They could have kept them alive in the dark doing their own stuff without having them killed or the main villains of every Warcraft expansion.
For example malfurion, thrall, tyrande, Jaina proudlmoure, sylvanas are still all very much alive and not the main purpose of the expansions, yet they are participating a little in every
expansion.
I hoped for the same with arthas and illidan.

The story is just bad fan fiction at this point. Lore is fucked beyond repair, especially after WoD. So they can bring whoever they want back, it won't make a difference. A Warcraft 4 that would ignore WoW's events is nice to dream about, never gonna happen though. Even if they do a WC4, there is no way they are gonna admit how much they fucked up the story during WoW's lifetime.
