I've got a bitch.

I hate the way Apple is so controlling about which applications it allows in the App Store.I I want Kodi and I don't want to jail break yet.

Movie tube went down and the other sites are so cumbersome.

I tried to stream Kodi from my Mac to my iPad but no luck there. I don't think you can stream the stream, I think you have to download from Kodi first or have a copy in the Kodi files to do that. I can UPnP to VLC but VLC has a3c issues and my other player won't pick it up. And then ther is that issue with the Mac going to sleep even if you turn sleep off while streaming.

There has to be a better solution

I got a American iTunes card and a Vpn so I got some tv apps because I'm geo locked but even those are stupid cuz they got these advertisements that you can't fast forward.

I'm just really angry right now. I had it when companies, and there are a lot of them try to shove shit down my throat.

And if you see any crazy ass no sense typos it's because iPad is the worse of the worse for changing your slight typos to really weird words.

Grrrrrrr

I have no idea about half the stuff you talked about, but as an Apple user you should understand that you give up all your rights to logic and fairness when it comes to privacy, device connectivity and various restrictions in software and hardware.

You can't.

Give up on using Apple's shite for that, honestly. You either stick to 100% legit, paid content or you get something else. Anything meaningful requires a jailbreak.

If you want a really cheap solution though, get a Chromecast. You stick that in your TV and presto, you can stream whatever the hell you want to it just fine. You can stream from your iPad from some apps (i.e. YouTube) or from your Mac. Especially if you combine it with something like Plex (not sure if Kodi'll work with it actually) it works pretty damn well.

Yep, Apple's constant restrictive bullshit is a real killer for people that want a larger selection of software, your only option most of the time is to Jailbreak Sad Is there any reason why you don't want to JB, Pistol? It would save a lot of headaches and could be easily "undone" whenever you wished.

Thanks guys...

I haven't jailbreaked before..... I don't think it's that hard to do myself from what I understand. I keep reading up it. It does void my warranty but I had this iPad for mor than I year now so it is looking mor attractive. Kodi would work then.

I read somewhere I could g a developers license to install it but you have to pay money for that. Anybody do something like that?

I don't think chromecast is what I want. I want to steam to my iPad. Does it do that? I want iPad in bed. I get a big TV for my bedroom when I move when's that is....

Apple are such fucktards. So anti anything if they aren't getting a piece of the money pie.

Good news I found a few other steaming sites that aren't that bad.

I've read the same but I also read that doing so loses hardware acceleration support, making Kodi run slower and drain more battery, but I have no hands-on experience with it so I couldn't say for sure :\ The thing about Jailbreaking is that, yes, it voids your warranty (can Apple detect if it's been JB in the past if you decide to wipe and start over?) but there's a limited time window with each vulnerable version before Apple puts out a new build that blocks off future JB. That's what it's always advised to get in as soon as you can Very Happy

I found some streaming sites. They are pretty ....buggy, it's not quite the right word. You try to play the video and it opens up the App Store to some stupid game. It's a type of spam. But A good amount of them ar working, there is a knack to it....

Jailbreak. Or not to jailbreak.

So far ifunbox is still working so I can stick downloaded movies into it. Watch them whenever.

I read books on it and have no problem with those. Torrented. I am surprised they haven't found a way to ban all torrented stuff on iPad.

I think my best solution might be just to wait and get a TV for the bedroom when I move., it will just be a while. I'm in a line up to buy one.

It just pisses me off. I've been really tired and cranky lately. People are pissing me off too. I'm all bad moody. I'm being overworked at work and their is nothing I can really do about it. My quiet night in bed with my movie or tv shows is what I really really look forward too at the end of a crappy day. Most of my days are good but they have been crappy lately. Stressed.

They are putting a whole we computer system at work, no one is trained and apparently it is really fucked up and every lab they have converted has been a disaster. All of out benefits have change for the worse, and everyone is called in sick to use up their sick time so it's short staffed. Th patients have been haywire, their kids have been haywire to the extreme. And my boss has gone on sick/stress leave.

.....and all I want to is bury my brain in Syfy shows and movies, at night, in bed, with my iPad. Befor I have to get up and start the insanity all over again Neutral

It sounds like you really need some way to relax... either that or a vacation!

When you Jailbreak your device Cydia should be installed by default, from which you can buy/download various JB apps, and iFunbox will continue to work as usual - only now you can use iFunbox to install .IPA files and they'll work as if you'd downloaded them from iTunes Smile

When I first got my iPad I tried to install an .IPA fiile through ifunbox. I got it to show up on the iPad and everything. I really thought I was onto something that no one else knew about. Hahahaha! Didn't work of course but was supper happy I found an alternative to app stor and iTunes. Some of those cracks, the candy crush, you don't need a jailbreak.

Popcorn time sucks. The movies are limited and not current.

Well I think I'm going to go for it. I'm on holidays right now but I've been reading a bit more.

Is there anyone who will volunteer to help me if I get stuck? It seems pretty straight forward but I read you can also brick your device although rare. Turn off password and find my iPad, ...

I did it. I broke outta jail!!!!!

Easy as pie.

Not so easy only because I couldn't figure out where 1/2 the settings where......was adding the addons in Kodi. You can't find them because the default skin is basic. You have to manually change it and then you can unzip your files. Took me about an hr in Google to find something that was for iPad users. ....it would seem not a popular topic.... I was sooo close without google help. But in the end. Google was my friend.

Doesn't look exactly how I want it too but I have a headache and I'm going to watch my tv show in bed.

....and I'm watching this battery go down. ....down down...I'm going to need a longer iPad cord so I'm not hanging off the walls.

Popcorn already has Lawsuits I think.

I didn't use it before, but I think it was much better wi more movies...then something happened by the time I looked at it and it was some downgraded version. My take on it anyway. But I wasn't a real user of it.

It crashes sometimes after the jail break, but it's known to do that after. I gotta restart it. Sometimes 2 times cuz it gets stuck on the apple icon.

It's great though. I torrent books, very handy. Eats up my battery but I just keep it plugged in more.

I'm glad everything is working out for you, though the battery drain and crashes are strange. As long as you're not running anything extraneous, I don't know what would be causing crashes or draining battery faster. Still... I guess having a portable media centre (where you can play your OWN files and not just Apple DRM crap) and books is always a plus Very Happy

It seemed to start happening after I installed Ifile. I noticed I have a few too many thing open. Yea.... I'm not doing barrel, 3d spiny docks, and all those kind of enhancements that change the appearance. I think those are useless. I'm just getting the apps I really want.

I think the battery issue is normal with jailbreak. I read about it. I think Apple codes with the battery in mind but the jailbreaks messes with that. I don't know how to explain it but that's kinda what it sounds like.

I have kodi.xbmc
Ifile. (To get at the stuff I download)
Itransmission

That's about it. I think the more stuff you stick on it the more chance for problems...

There are many large open source projects that find their way to the app store. The problem with XBMC offshoots on Apple, as I understand it, is the GPL license. Have you complained to the developers why they have chosen a non-permissive license?

"You may use, distribute and copy Kodi under the terms of GNU General
Public License version 2, which is displayed below."

https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/blob/master/LICENSE.GPL

Is this the non permissive one?

I thought it had more to do with copyright and anything remotely related to warez.

Apple does not allow GPL ("General Public License") because it cannot work with the app store model. Other, permissive licenses such as MIT and BSD are compatible, and there is generally no problem to have them on the app store.

One thing to add here, regarding it voiding your warranty.
It doesn't, not in practise. I have taken my jail broken phone into an Apple Store with a hardware fault lots of times and they've swapped it on the spot, whilst still jail broken Smile

Their diag software doesn't even detect it lol

What about Kodi? They can't track that one can they. I'm going to google.

Isp's always know what your doing, there is always a record somewhere....
kodi would appear safe in the way that it's streaming and copyright laws get blurry here so copyright holders are not going after them because it's too hard to prosecute. That popcorn is torrent based.
