I dont know whats going on. I want to install Win 10 Pro, 64bit on fathers PC. I downloaded the 64bit image from MS, booted with DVD, formated C drive, started installing, skipped the part with CD key and when everything is finished it says that installed version is 32bit. How is that possible?
Activation was succesfull with KMSAuto Net 2015 v1.3.5 from Sin317, but the damn version is 32bit.
I'm downloading again the ISO from MS and soon will start with the 3rd reinstall -.-

This is nothing short of simple but linux had it ages I have no idea if windows 8's did as I never used 8 but I gladly welcomed that I could just mouse over any screen open and not have to click on it first for focus to allow scrolling to work
Was this in 8? or is it a 10 thing? Either way its great..

So, general consensus is that, the enterprise version, is the one to go, to get rig of cortana and all the nonsense? Please answer, im sitting on the iso to install, should i go for enterprise to avoid all that mumbo jumbo or its not confirmed to be cleaner than the home/pro versions?
Thanks in advance.

Only the long term version of enterprice will allow you to do these things.

MBR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI
MBR partition scheme for UEFI
GPT partition scheme for UEFI
I have a gigabyte B85M-D3H motherboard with UEFI
Also the file system on rufus is set to FAT32 default, should i leave it at that?

Basically the Search process hangs and doesn't work and needs to be shutdown with task manager. Seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Happens randomly.
Also, according to that thread, some people have been experiencing this bug for a while before official release. WTF Microsoft? Fix your shit! |
I had the start menu not open once that means same issues with search funcion on the taskbar, this though has been smooth as butter since I did a DDU and reinstall of latest nvidia drivers. I have to say its not been problematic since and very fast at search. I even have all the indexing etc off. Infact I need to say that very fast really means I type in first 3 letters of something and bam its there what I need. no waiting... |
Thanks! I'll try that. |
Just wanted to say that reinstalling Nvidia drivers did't help. It still happens sometimes.

just use the MS tool itself that lets you chose between usb stick or iso to burn. Installs just fine with it on uefi mobo.

installer from usb works either with fat32 or ntfs formated sticks. but you will get problems with selfmade wims for installation which are bigger than 4gb with fat32 cause of filesystem limitations. for "normal" installations (i.e. images from ms or the ms tool) it doesnt matter at all though. think the official ms tools uses ntfs

This one in Rufus ---> MBR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI
Plus, depending on the image to be installed, and size of USB, it will select correct file system by default.

The only way i found out to kill her is rename that folder instantly after you kill the process searchui.exe, she will not come back, but you cant use the new search button either..

For what it's worth I've been running without searchui.exe since day 1 without any problems. Don't see how that would cause any anyway. I don't think anything special is tied into that "service."

is there a way to block those entries or stop windows from wanting to start cortana, after opening the startmenu? don't want to get spammed all day in event viewer. |
you watch event viewer all day? even viewer is not saying issues are bad because they report something its just there for fault finding mainly. It is probably knowing it should be running its a silent warning.
ignore it.

Windows 10: the buggiest RTM Microsoft has ever released. I haven't done a clean install yet though but I can't uninstall the WiFi-drivers for my D-Link 150Mb/s USB stick, the task manager and the uninstaller just freeze and after a while I have to reboot... Amongst other bugs.
This is what happens when the Windows program discards the closed beta test (it started with Windows 8, ie. Steve Sinofsky who was the new boss of Windows division when Windows 7 reached RTM... he didn't want external (or internal) input beyond what he wanted to hear. After Windows 8 he got fired for making the worst selling Windows ever and was replaced by two women, one that dealt with fixing all the crap Sinofsky had created (a tablet OS UI for the desktop???!) and one that dealt with economy, management etc.). All high level external testers (I was one of them and was a test pilot for XP, Vista and Windows 7 and later Office 365/Office 15|16).
Instead they threw out Windows 10 for public consumption and hoped telemetry, automated uploads of logs, crash dumps etc. would be enough since most "Insiders" wasn't required to report actual bugs (bug bashing) with extensive bug reports including descriptions, step-by-step targets and so on.
My suggestion is: do not replace Win7/8.1 with Win10 yet. Wait for Microsoft to work on patches, hotfixes and a pseudo-service pack (since they no longer think in terms of "service pack"). It's simply too buggy and will cause issues once you start using it as your daily OS. I was sorely disappointed having waited since the 9k-builds for the "RTM". This thing should be considered beta with bugs and flaws. I do like Win10 in principle. It's using the optimized faster kernel from 8.x and have various features that improves the experience. It just happens to be hopelessly buggy.
disclaimer: I have not done a clean install, I used the automated upgrade from Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (legal key, got 3-4 keys as a gift when Win7 hit RTM). Perhaps the experience is better, esp. if searching out the latest drivers (Win10-support if possible) for the hardware used.
