Woah, slow down. RE Remaster isn't the fastest selling game in the series. Read closely: the announcement is that it's their fastest-selling digital download title so far.
For as much of a "wrong fucking direction" as it may have gone, RE6 is the third-best selling game in Capcom's entire history, trailing Street Fighter II at #2, and yes, Resident Evil 5 (another game that some people thought was the "wrong direction) at #1.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not really crazy about RE6, but I don't really hate it either, and I completely understand that it makes more business sense for Capcom to capitalize on what made that game sell as the focus for the future of the core mainstream RE series, rather than on what made RE1 (and 2, 3, etc) sell over 15 years ago. Yeah, side projects like RE Remaster are awesome and a great tribute to long-time fans, and RE Revelations (for all the problems that RER2 is having right now) is a really cool branch of the series that puts it's own spin on things, but I think it's hard to argue that Capcom doesn't have it's own valid reasons for taking the core series the way they have, even though I would agree that they definitely could improve on the execution a bit next time. At any rate, it's good that there's variety in the franchise, IMO.

At this point, RE's "new direction" which started with RE4 is going on for longer than the "old direction".
RE1-RE0: 1996-2002 (6 years)
RE4-RE6: 2005-2012 (7 years)
If we include the Revelations games which borrow elements from both the old and the new games then: RE4-REv2: 2005-2015 (10 years)
The "new direction" IS Resident Evil, like it or not..
I'm replaying REv1 now, which I didn't finish the previous time because I forgot to backup my saves  and I am, like last time, liking it a lot. REv2 does some things better but also some things worse but in any case it's great an alternate style has been established with Revelations.

revelations was a step in the right direction, it was designed like an old school re game but with shooter gameplay of a newer one.

playing this on 4:3 aspect ratio fixed all of the issues i had. with widescreen on it felt like a clusterfuck as the game uses pan in method of filling the black bars.
finished jill campaign, what a great fucking game indeed. whole game is a big damn puzzle.
having played re4, 5, 6 and revelations, now i know what the fuss was all about with this game.

Can't view the link at the moment, but I just wish they'd beat their inner laziness and remake the game properly (impossibru  ).
The UE4-powered fan thingy with the action camera and focus on pew pewing looks pretty meh indeed in my opinion. That's not a remake, that's a nextgen reboo  |
