So i just bought the following stuff for myself:

Raspberry Pi 2 Model B
900MHz Cortex A7, 1GB RAM, 10/100 LAN, 4xUSB2.0, H

ICEMAN adapter 230V AC - 5V USB
5V DC / 2.1A, 1 x USB Micro, 2m

Wi-Pi
WLAN module for Raspberry Pi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n), U

Kingston microSD 64GB class 10

Keyrah V2
USB Interface for Classic Computer Keyboards and Joysticks

what ya think? This surely will be nice in my newly made blue C64c case?

Ive never done this before - so id like to know, do you need to install some kind of OS to use the raspberry or does it have its own from the start?

I will use a c64 keyboard from one of my other computers, but I cant decide if im to go for the white ones or the brown ones. The thing is, the "white" ones have turned yellow just like old c64/amiga cases do...dunno how to clean those - but the question is if it will look any good using the brown ones..

the pi os is stored on the sd card, so no there is no os atm. you have to choice which one do you want. just put the card into a reader, plug it into your pc and follow the instructions of the os you want to install.

what do you want to do with the pi? according to that you can choose the os

Normally you're given the choice of having a pre-installed OS, depending on where you bought it from, but if not;

https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/

You can simply download one of the recommended distros and copy to SD. Also, you could grab this;

http://blog.petrockblock.com/retropie/retropie-downloads/retropie-sd-card-image-for-raspberry-pi-2/

A pre-configured Retropie OS+software for the Pi2, this will be perfect if you're only planning on using the Pi2 for gaming/emulation in your C64C case. If you want to use it for OS stuff too, getting the full non-frontend OS would be preferable - to which you could manually install Retropie as a normal app down the line.

Yeah - exactly! But I refuse to "destroy" old c64 components and thats why Im using the newly made blue case and just borrowing a keyboard from one of my c64s Smile

Since it will have 64gb I might aswell add Amiga Smile (and arcades..nintendo...sega etc etc)
Already downloaded most anyway so Razz

its easy as fuck, get the retropi image for the pi2. use Win32DiskImager and you are done. BUT DO NOT use a mobilephone or camera as cardreader on your pc to install that image. wont work, you need a "normal" cardreader (even if your camera or mobile shows the sd as normal removable disk)

wanted to do that too, but i only have pi1 and using it with openelec and performance isnt that great in retropi (even though its heavily overclocked for fluid hd streaming). dont wanna spend money for just a retropi setup with a much more powerful pi2

Only problem I see for me is using a C64c as base...some amiga games require Arrow keys or keypad. Sure, I can redefine it to existing keys..but still. Should perhaps get an external keypad or something?

I should get all parts within 1-2 weeks. Dying to get my hands on it! Got 5 tac-2 which I can use Razz

But I might get one of these later on too:

I guess you're not overly keen on hacking apart the case to add space for some arrow keys? :\

I guess you could always use some kind of rebind function to have WSAD function as arrow keys in games that absolutely need them? Though that would obviously conflict if said games also use WSAD as shortcut keys :\
