Though I do wonder what is even possible with this tech. Can a player even have any kind of lasting impact on the world? Isn't the world much too large for persistence?
The gameplay they showed so far was rather bland (the space combat made me sigh)... but I'm still looking forward to it because of the atmosphere, a whole universe,...
It's one of those cases my mind says: No, but my heart says: GIVE ME NOAW!
Polyderp article, not giving them ad/click money Still, it does describe a lot more what NMS is about and what to expect. I'm still very much liking the sound of it

I ask Murray how other players figure in this game. He says it's not an MMO. You might see other players on the surface of planets, and you may be able to interact with them on a basic level, but there will be no combat or trading. "It's a bit like Journey," he explains.

I wonder how it's going to work with other people, he says there's no combat.. but there IS combat in the game. So what happens when you see another player? The ability to shoot is disabled? Your shots just go through them? None of that really affects me anyhow, offline mode all the way
There's only one thing wrong with online multi player games, other people!
Seriously, pretty much all of the games iv'e played online have been spoilt by ass hole players.
Maybe it's me, I'm a nice guy in real life, I can't be anything else online. That's why I always get raped on games like H1Z1
I couldn't agree more, partner, couldn't agree more. I'm *very* glad there's no PvP in NMS. No PvP = no griefing. No griefing = no stress. Happy Sabin. Let all the griefers stay infesting DayZ instead \o/
There really isn't much game when every time you see a video pop up: it's always the same.
Still looks nice and I'll get it at a decent price preferably after testing it out... in 2020 or something
I'm still super hyped for it, though I do also think that the whole experience will get boring after a while .. so I'm going to aim for the centre of the galaxy and keep moving, not wasting time/energy on puttering around. I do hope the draw distance and textures are improved on the PC version though as they're both pretty terrible looking in the PS4 vids we've seen so far.
game indeed looks like it might get boring after some point.
But still, art design is fantastic, tech is geeky, and part of me still hopes that they might surprise us with some kind of narrative or perhaps philosophical mumbo jumbo that gives the whole thing some reason of being. The devs deserve the attention, no matter what weaknesses the game has, its still pushing things at certain levels.

That's exactly what I'm hoping too. I like what I see, but I also already know from my past experiences that just wandering around with no sense of progression whatsoever can seriously undermine my entertainment.
The game can randomly generate millions of planets which is impressive, but if there is no sense of reward, or at least something to truly look forward to apart from seeing animals and planting beacons like a megalomaniac astronaut with hoarding issues, then it's quite meaningless for me. The more the merrier isn't always good, sometimes focus needs to be maintained or the whole thing collapses on itself like a dying sun. I'm keeping my expectations low to be safe
