Doom 3 tried to be more serious story wise and more realistic. They even wrote a story which was a first for id software.
Doom 4 seems to be like the old ones, where the story is almost non existent and you only shoot enemies. We will see how this formula works for 2016.
I thought that a mix of the 2 is the better solution, I love what they did to DNF (as a minority I guess...). It was still a silly shooter but there was also a silly story behind it.
Doom 4 seems to be really bland and no purpose at all, just shoot shoot shoot and no cutscenes or anything (or even talking ? Doom 3 had plenty of talking, doom 3 was more similar to half life in that matter, which is what they mean by the more realistic path.)
I saw things like that in here and in other "woman problems" topics so...... Am I the only one that thinks some authorities needs to be alerted about Saner and him possibly being a rapist and/or kidnapper ?

You jest, but have you forgotten that id once confirmed Doom 4's SP to be 30fps? They've been shockingly quiet since the reveal of the neuDoom4 compared to codDoom4 from a few years back, so it wouldn't surprise me if neuDoom4 is 30fps in SP still.

kinda curious what the people say who can play the multiplayer @ quakecon right now
edit: just read a text from one of the lucky 24 guys with a golden ticket under their seat who could play it instant after the presentation. said its promising, fast paced (not as fast as quake or ut though) and felt more like old school pc shooter. although i dislike the loadout style

Wahey! no modding, the only maps you can create are ones in the painfully limited Timesplitters 2-style console-oriented "SnapMap" .. and you can only make small interior maps, no outdoors and no larger ones.
IT'S DOOM 2, EVERYONE! REALLY! BEST DOOM SINCE DOOM!!
So, the game is 1. Slow with 2. Stupid, stationary AI and 3. You have 2 weapons in multiplayer, but hey, at least you have 4. AWESUM MELEE FINISHERS, AMIRITE!
