Quote:
From what sources tell Kotaku, however, this shouldn’t have been a surprise for Warner Bros.

“I will say that it’s pretty rich for WB to act like they had no idea the game was in such a horrible state,” said one quality assurance tester who worked on the game for years. “It’s been like this for months and all the problems we see now were the exact same, unchanged, almost a year ago.”

Two sources, requesting anonymity to avoid jeopardizing their careers, spoke with Kotaku over the past week in hopes of explaining how the broken PC version of Arkham Knight made it out the door. They both said that Warner Bros. was aware of the many issues facing Arkham Knight on PC and that the publisher chose to ship the game regardless, not to maniacally screw over customers—but because they believed it was good enough.

Now that it practically is offical, i too really hope that leaders at WB get some nice anal sessions for this. And then get stripped of their jobs.

Sadly neither of both will happen in reality Sad

Of course they knew of its problems. That's like their job.

What the hell did they think would happen now that Steam refunds exist? They might as well have delayed the PC version since that's basically what's happening now.

they didnt know about the steam refund system so they thought that they would get their normal sales and thats it.
But after the shitstorm they had to pull boxed versions etc. which lead to higher costs
Imo some heads did roll but hopefully they right ones

They won't care - PC sales are insignifcant to consoles, and I would expect any further Batman games to be console exclusive - they can't get refunds Laughing

I can tell they're playing it at 30 fps. In my experience there's no major problems if you don't unlock the framerate (even one of my 970's can run it at almost 4K with a consistent 30 fps). The trouble begins when unlocking the fps since it causes tons of stuttering. There are other issues as well like slow loading textures and broken SLI, also reports of a memory leak causing the game to use a ton of ram and vram (which was even addressed by Rocksteady as something they're working to fix).

-edit I can't take these guys seriously. They're defending the shitty state of the PC version, and one of them actually said "they wouldn't have sold more even if the port was perfect".

The experience in this first hour: Fuckin wow, what a game. The voice overs really stand out to me (as being glorious) specially after the witcher 3 which I didnt feel had such good VOs(but was greatly praised for them by my mate)

I don't think the Witcher 3 VO are bad, but it's obvious the ones in Batman are done by professionals.

Pleasant surprise to see Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill listed, I thought they retired? I thought the new voice actor for Joker was doing a terrific job Laughing

My favorite part about this game is Joker, ironically Very Happy
I'm loving the scenes where he shows up and fucks with your mind (the scene in the airship where you meet Scarecrow for the first time, just, wow Surprised )

Oh dont get me wrong theyre certainly not bad. Just not quite the 2nd coming of VO jesus my mate made them out to be xD

I havent checked the credits. But commissioner gordon sounds suspiciously much like that ermintrout guy from breaking bad and its spinoff

There is nothing to do, when you read stuff like that, along with "runs smoothly at solid 30fps" or "maybe there's something wrong with your potato PCs" I don't even have the strength to get angry anymore. Razz

I grabbed a cheap Green key too the other day, because I've always enjoyed the Batman games immensely and said myself, why not, maybe if I'm lucky.. Laughing
Started the game three times and in three sessions I got respectively: one crash, one huge memory leak that froze the entire PC, and one display drivers have stopped responding xD

All at cinematic 30fps obviously (anything higher than that destroys the poor 970), plus constant stuttering that makes my HDD go completely insane. Mouse sensitivity was also all over the place (had to edit the .ini's). Hands down, the worst port I've ever played on PC in 20+ years.

If you can get past the technical issues, there's some great gameplay and gorgeous graphics to witness. However, you cannot. What a shame.

Disable motion blur and set the fps cap to 60 or whatever your refresh rate is. Motion blur seems to be the biggest culprit regarding performance. And if you plan on alt tabbing out of the game...borderless is much more forgiving where mem leaks are concerned in comparison to fullscreen.

Reckon I wont get far without subs then xD.

Was meaning to ask regarding this game btw.
I am using a knockoff Dual shock gamepad(speedlink something) have always used x360ce without trouble(and its x64 version too) in games. but in this game it just doesnt seem to wanna work properly. it doesnt take and by default the pad works but the button config is all messed up. Any other software I could try? I remember motioninjoy not working with this pad and dont feel much like binding every single button to the pad with xpadder.

Have you updated x360ce.gdb file? You can do it yourself, open it with text editor and just copy something like this:

[BatmanOrigins.exe]
Name = Batman: Arkham Origins
HookMask = 0x00000002

Just change it to Arkham Knight and whatever .exe is called. It should work now. I used to do this all the time with newer games untill I bought Xbox 360 controller Smile

No luck sadly(and yeah I chagned the exe to the actual batmanAK.exe)

Thanks, yup disabling all the silly post-processing (not to mention the horrible vaseline-powered AA) was the first thing that I did, same for the framerate cap as well as trying all the various combination, but alas the poor Bats is still an unplayable mess for me, mainly because of the stuttering. It's as if they killed his parents twice. Sad

Yeah if motion blur was the biggest culprit we would be all already playing for days Razz I'm afraid the game is currently fucked beyond any configuration file tweaking, as has already been established in the Steam forums by some knowledgeable guys.

Finished the game, full completion except for them collectable riddles. Those just bore me.

Still have some ARs to complete.

All in all, best Batmen gaim so far. I really liked it. Such a shame for the shit performance.

Nowhere near close in experience to something like witcher 3, but that is understandable, as nothing comes close to that experience.

What kills me inside is input lag. That is what I can't handle. If I play with a mouse, and the controls are not 1:1 and instant, I just put down the game.

I played this one with a controller. There it matters less, because using a controller to move camera is already a shot experience, so the performance doesn't ruin it too much :DDD
