At this point I think it's really hard to tell how fast development will continue. Could be that we get a commercial game playable in a few months, or only after several more years. But the recent advancements are certainly nice.
I agree,but Saying we will wait another 5-10 years for playble games Is Exaggeration at this point. the Emulator won't be perfect even in 10 years,but similar state for PSP emulation,at least what it was 2-1 years a go is possible in the next few years IMO.
And JackQ, one or two vids about an emulator is fine but what's the use of spamming this topic full of vids showing how two or three pixels of a game are actually emulated well? We get it, the emulator is improving but until it at least plays a *few* games properly, I think it's a waiting game.
Hmm, this thread is losing its value (for me) because more and more practically unplayable crap gets posted.
This has been many people's point for a while now and I genuinely think Jack is doing this just to irritate people. The Emulation Thread was supposed to be about news, about games, about new breakthroughs, about helping people set things up.. not some one-upsmanship bullshit about the next Xenia GIT build that shows the title screen of another unplayable unemulated game.
I tried getting it back on topic with the discussion about GlideN64 but then that just gets buried with more Xenia YT videos.
Yup, I don't post in this thread much. But to me it was a very easy/fast way too find some interesting news and certain set-ups. So I checked it regularly. Past week it has anything but that.
Probably why I find it so irritating, it be better if Jack feels like more sharing that he just does it in a xenia thread of his own.

Emulation within emulation \o/ The Dolphin team have managed to get the Virtual Console stuff working inside Wii emulation, now they've got N64 games running and to show off how impressive this progress is; they've released a video showcasing Pokemon Snap - a tough title to emulate due to its framebuffer effects as even the dedicated N64 emulator, PJ64, isn't emulating Pokemon Snap correctly

Just so I am up to the speed. The virtual console is an emulator and games aren't specially converted by nintendo?
Is the N64 so hard to emulate? Are documentations missing or something?
Is GlideN64 going to fix this as in does the author know how it should be done and its just a matter of time now?

As usual you didnt get the point, but come back with "" anyway. In this case not entirely your fault, considering I dont try anymore.
There is practically no chance in hell, that emulation of up too who cares within X360 will be in any scenario preferable to emulating the system directly (used resources, speed, quality, enhancements). And if you want some all-in-one solution, use Retroarch, which already exists and is technically usable.

My "friend" and would like to consider him a friend (<3 @ sabin), but he didn't say N64 emulation via Dolphin was the future or a nice all-in-one solution. It is "merely" interesting and an amazing feat of dolphin, just as it is with Xenia.
Emulating directly, especially in case of the xenia, will be preferable.

The ability to run "inner" emulation is nice and might come in handy,for some reasons,I never called it efficient.

Yup, the VC inside the Wii/etc is an emulator and none of the included games are "converted" - you can even extract the ROM files from the downloads. Nintendo's N64 emulator is the best in the business right now, they even bundled an earlier version of it with their Gamecube release of the Zelda titles, allowing you to play Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time. I don't know if GlideN64 will fix the depth issues in Pokemon Snap but at least there's another option for now
Dolphin's method right now is a remarkably smart one, they don't NEED to emulate the N64, they don't NEED to emulate the SNES or the Neo Geo or the PC-Engine, they just need to emulate the Wii to a sufficiently accurate degree that it has no trouble running Nintendo's own software.. which in this case happens to be a magnificently accurate emulator suite in itself.
