Honestly, I dont care about nuST III at this point.
nuST I was acceptable and fun, though with a quite some idioties I could overlook.
nuST II was a crap ST movie, with huge production value and entertainement but it shat all over its history. To me it was more like a parody of ST than anything else. I dare anyone who doesnt think so to rewatch TOS "Space Seed" and ST II, ignore the production and cheese of the time and just listen to some of the dialogue. I still dont get how they could have done that. The relationship between Kirk and Spock is obviously believable iin ST II since they have known each other for years. In nuST II they play this same relationship crap when Kirk supposedly dies and they know each other for what, 1 year? ST has always been a little ridiculous but this nuTrek crap is more ridiculous than ever, but with high production value and action for the derps.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Idris Elba is in early talks to play the villain in “Star Trek 3,” sources tell Variety.
Details of Elba’s role are being kept under wraps. Early rumors suggest that Klingons would be the main villains in this movie, as they have not had a full presence in previous installments, but sources would not confirm if that was the case. Paramount and Skydance had no comment.

Are the executives at Star Wars going through British crime shows or what? First it was Cumberpatch and now Elba. I bet Star Wars IV will have David Tennant
"And I've got to say the Star Trek Wikipedia, Memory Alpha, which is online, has been so helpful. If you need to know what's inside of a photon torpedo, there it is online, because there are so many dedicated fans out there who have such a vast knowledge of the universe and the minutia of it."

Fair play to him! I'd rather a director/scriptwriter take established information from 50 years of diehard fandom, than simply "wing it" Memory Alpha is, by far, the most comprehensive resource for Trekkies out there, it's magnificent Then you have Memory Beta for non-canon/non-TV information too, that one deals with the ST games, books, etc.
That was an embarrassingly bad trailer. If it's representative of the movie itself, then J.J's absence from the directing chair is more than obvious.

Not going to watch this. Its making me want to puke even more than Star Crap II.

It's more or less what I expected, with dem strong Justin Lin vibes for the yo generation. I thought the second one was already playing with fire, now they're going full hollypear xD
Fuck, this looked terrible. Going through Lin's directional history, I can only one single thing that I thoroughly enjoyed: The first paintball episode of Community
