Fast forwared most of the movie. I know it's a sci-fi movie, but the characters are very unrealistic and their acting doesn't help one bit.

Gaddamn that was a bad movie. Overacting, trying too hard with the 'humor'. After 30 mins we turned that crap off. To watch...

Nightcrawler 7/10

Quite liked it, great acting. Has a bit of a weird vibe (the movie all together). The character was spot on!

Timelapse - 4/10

It starts to get somewhere near the end and even gets slightly interesting, but the terribad characters and pacing have ruined the movie way to much by that point. You can watch it if you're starved for a mindfuck-sort of a movie, but don't expect much.

Mad Max: Fury Road - 7/10

It's a solid, very entertaining action flick. It's main problem is it doesn't really know wheter it wants to be just silly fun, or somewhat serious. For the former it has one or two too many scenes that are supposed to be deep, thought or emotion-evoking. For the latter it would need an actual script, character development and at least 25% less high-octane action Very Happy

Still, it's a good movie, esspecially if you love over the top characterization and atmosphere. Some ideas and scenes are completely, legitimately sick and absurd. Go to the cinema if you wanna watch it, because it just won't be the same at home.

Also, a honorary mention: guitar guy - you made the movie! Don't ever change! grinhurt

Felt almost exactly the same way about Mad Max, this is how I put it in my review:

It was a heck of a fun movie, but then it started to take itself way too seriously, and that kind of ruined it. All those wannabe deep emotional moments? That's of a different genre than the rest of the movie.

Time lapse was like a poor man's Los cronocrímenes.

i think imdb voters were unfairly harsh on it... i've seen FAR worse get rated higher.

the film isn't anything special, but it had some good action, and was relatively well paced and acceptably told, even if it was a bit simple and uninspired... ending was a little silly, but like ive said, ive seen far less satisfying/acceptable 'major' films recently...

Morel tried to pull the same Taken trick again, didn't work as good as with Neeson, but I agree that it's much better than similar projects. Apparently the trick will be pulled again with his next 2016 movie (The Killer)

Nope, you can easily rate something without finishing it. I had no inclination that what I saw would get better or worse.

I do realise there are people with the thought process that you can't rate anything until you watch all of it... but I never agreed to that view. Have seen enough to know turn-a rounds don't happen with movies like these, especially not when you are at minute 38 of a +-90 minute movie. Smile

I thought it was funny that Holliday Grainger (Lucrezia Borgia in The Borgias) was casted as one of the stepsisters. I think she's gorgeous and actually much better looking than Cinderella Very Happy

Mad Max fury - 7/10 , the movie its ok, but they should change the title, max felt like just one of them, nothing like the original mad max, the lone wolf, when all the movie centers the action on him.

Man that was a brutal movie, quite tense and works on the feels!
War movie done right in my opinion, not the army glorification and b-rated love story that was American Sniper.

Thanks for the recommendation Fearwhatnow!

Mad Max Fury Road - 7,5/10

After so many months of patient waiting, I finally got around watching it. Such a genuine feast for the eyes, this is how you make a proper hollyaction movie, stylistically and technically wise.
The over-the-top car chases and cinematography were excellent, thanks to a solid pacing and CGI that rarely felt overdone.

Unfortunately *sad trombone* I can't say the same about the rest, as the superficial attempt to introduce some characterization left to be desired (with me ending up not caring for anyone in particular), especially the wives from Dorne xD
Still, despite some imperfections, as far as blockbusters go this killamax for me was something considerably more entertaining and inspired than the usual generic AAA tripe, which is a definite plus.

Mad Max 5/10:

Agree, visual feast and cinematography were excellent but...

Why not call this movie 'desert chase' or something, Max has about 5 sentences in the entire movie he is close to not even a relevant character. Got strong Transformers vibe in terms of dialog, plot, character depth, lacking those just makes it hard to get into a film.

Maybe i went in with too much expectation as film is getting so much praise. It may as well of had no dialog at all.

Mad Max: Fury Road - 5/10

I wanted to like it more than I did. On a visual level it is incredible, as the practical stunts and effects work is truly awe-inspiring. Sadly, that's about all the film has going for it. Despite the relentless pace and the eye-popping action, I was bored. I didn't give a toss about any of the characters because they weren't developed beyond "they're evil, she's tough, he's haunted by his past..." and because the film completely lacks any narrative drive.

Also, Junkie XL's score is the blandest Zimmer knock-off in years (a billion drums and a string ostinato). RIP film music.

mad max thing 6/10

do you know how when you watch a movie, you can just FEEL if its right? and likewise you can feel if its off and doesnt quite work, even if you cant quite put your finger on exactly whats not working or how it could be fixed? Well I deifnitely felt like the film was off... it didn't feel cohesive and slick to me, it felt more like a bunch of things happening, rather than a solid (doesn't have to be STRONG) narrative.

that said, what the film DOES do right is a: fantastically fun action sequences, and b: amazing artistic design... the designers must have had an absolute BALL coming up with those vehicles, and it was well worth it, because they were wonderfully inventive and so bloody cool...

negatives, as i said, it didn't FEEL right to me as a complete film... more like the director came up with some cool setpieces and cobbled them together... i also thought the characters were pretty weak... and really if all else fails and story ISNT your focus (as was the case here), i think solid characters are always a must, especially if we're going to be following this core group for the entire film, and feel some kind of sense of tension/concern/peril around them...

...and some of the acting was pretty weak, especially (surprisingly?) tom hardys max portrayal... and its hardly a demanding character to begin with!

tl;dr, 6/10, epic action and design, poor everything else.

It should be higher really, I've no real reason why I only gave it a 7 except to say that it wasn't super-special, it was entertaining and I enjoyed it, nice spin on the classic film without being too ridiculous.. but it wasn't scary, it wasn't tense and it just didn't sparkle with anything special. Good cast, good acting, decent retelling. Worth watching.

Jurassic world - 9/10 , enjoyed it way more than the previous movies + 3d was quite impressive in IMAX

Inside out - 8/10 nice story, animated pixar movie but didn't really blow me away as far as gfx went, 3d was pretty badly done compared to more recent titles of the same genre

Mad max fury road - 4/10 saw this at home, think i fell asleep twice during it, gf was also very interested ... in her phone after like 10 mins. Good thing i didn't waste money on this shit. Rather watch the old mad max movies 10 times than this turd.
