I don't remember if it was detailed at length in the game (possibly buried in a computer log somewhere), but apparently the reason was because he failed to get the software upgrade encoded on the platinum chip, and subsequently suffered various malfunctions and system crashes over the years, fucking his shit right up. Presumably if the chip hadn't been lost when the bombs dropped, he would have been a bit more spry.

I thought the chip upgrade was for his missile defense systems and robots in Vegas? Isn't that why he hired couriers to get it to him to upgrade them? It seems to me House was content being a "computer".

As for whether Fallout have life prolong tech, we see those all the time in FO3, FNV and even previous games. Super Mutants, Biological robotics from the Think Tank, synthetics from Boston, and House's computer integration. But really, the setting has a lot of crazy sci-fi tech, I wouldn't consider anything too much. Maybe except ocean faring ships and planes, no one seem to have managed to leave North America, for good reasons of course.

I think the main player being an android is possible, but they haven't shown any mechanics related to being an android. Or they just don't want to spoil it. But I think your family have been turn into android or Synth to be more likely.

Of course. If they do go that route, it will probably be a dramatic plot twist around the middle of the game. The likely explanation will be that the player is a special one-of-a-kind android, that has organs and memories, etc. You'll think you are human, and you will physically react to things like a human (eat, get poisoned, drugged, etc.). Presumably the jig will be up when you set off a trap that only works on synthetics.

Wasn't FO3's Tranquillity Lane (vault 112) tech about prolonging life/some sort of cryo sleep?

The comment about human eye being able to see only 15 FPS is hilarious, even 60 FPS would be hilarious. Some people just don't have a clue. Smile

Some people think that a limitation of display hardware is what human eye can detect.

Human eye can detect more than 150 FPS in some instances there were cases of people detecting changes in light intensity 1/220 s long (fighter pilots). Wink

they buy consoles with mediocre hardware from 5 years ago, and complain that new games run at 1080p 30fps Laughing

they should be glad and thankful that they're not runnint at 800i and 30fps

He expected better from Bethesda?

Didn't Skyrim have serious issues on PS3 that caused unplayable stuttering?

If he's expecting open world games to run at consistent 60 fps on consoles, he's going to be very very disappointed this generation.

Hell, he might even be disappointed in the next generation of consoles too. Graphics are much easier to build hype with than framerates, so developers will always prioritize that.

I'd guess probably a few years, maybe up to a decade, after the events of FO3. I would think they would try and tie in a few quests/NPCs between the two, particularly relating to the android quest.

By the way, Jim Sterling seems to like the mobile game - http://www.thejimquisition.com/2015/06/fallout-shelter-review/

Tbh you're comparing two WAY different mechanics of the eye.
Light intensity has nothing to do with FPS, and is know to be rly sensitive in humans. (ie u can detect a candle in darkness up to 10ish miles away)

However there is some truth behind the 60 fps thing, thats when u start to perceive full motion. However some brains are more senitive can perceive a smoother experience. Yet this has nothing to do with mechanics of the eye (so u could say eye is capped at around 30 fps). In the end what is smooth for some, might not be for others

Trust me im a doctor, we had to learn about this shit in uni, not on internet ^^

You know.. I'm not a doctor and I didn't even study physics, but I'm fairly sure all human vision is 100% light sensitivity from refraction and little else. So when AnarchoS said 1/220th of a second he was absolutely correct. That is detection in the ballpark of 220 FPS (even if it is just a light).

Now I don't know about seeing 200 frames individually, but I personally can perceive 60->100 fps motion easily and it boils down to improved recognition in complicated scenes. The difference in Quake 3 between 60 and 100 is amazing and is half the reason I was forever up in arms about the abysmal 60 we're stuck with on traditional LCDs.
