Hey!
I wanted to rip a DVD and convert it to AVI. At first i tried VirtualDUB, but this one can't read VOBs. Then i tried DaViDeo but it didnt look good, the movie wasnt sharp. Then a friend told me 2 use DVD2AVI. I tried it:
DVD2XviD: Error. auth.dll file is missing (or sth. like that)
DVD2VP7: DVD2AVI closes
DVD2DivX: yeah, works... Trying 2 play with DivX player... an error has occured. same thing with winamp.
in order for virtualdub to read the vobs you need to create a .d2v project file with dvd2avi (open vobs/save project file/projectfile.d2v) then you need to download avisynth and make a script for frameserving - i would recomend AVSEdit its an awesome frontend for avisynth - when done it will allow you to frameserv to virtualdub... but anyways, if thats too much go to doom9.org - they have tons of guides for beginers when it comes to DVD-to-AVI conversion.
