if the AI spawns right next to you in predefined locations and monster closets, what use is this?

I'm really not. I will never understand why people liked that in Rage. It was all just a facade. It was supposed to look cool and clever, but then you started outmaneuvering the enemies and it just looked awful and dumb and the AI would just kind of break. No thanks.

Well, it's true that id Software's specialist in mp arena gameplay has to be Quake and not Doom. Still this 4th outing looks very underwhelming, even compared to Doom 3 back then, which I particularly enjoyed a lot. But like I said previously, it can be substantially improved before release. the question is if they will do it or not Laughing

the first 2 doom's didn't have good AI, but the devs made up for it with enemy numbers and good placement.

It's not the AI that's bad. it's the clear lack of challenge on display in the vids, even for the gamepad user, let alone for m+kb.

would be great to have a difficulty setting playtested by actual PC gamers, not just gamepad casuals.
