I was watching Tech TV a couple of days a ago and I found this interesting program "Rootkit Revealer". It’s a certain type of spyware that can't be detected on your system any ware, it’s super stealthy.
What it does is imbed itself in the kernel so that every program that accesses the kernel {which it has to} has to go through the rootkit, that gets installed on your computer just like spyware.
So every program you use the "Rootkit" knows about it!

When I first heard about this I though naaa I doubt I have this on my computer Embarassed but to my surprise I have many Confused Shocked

They say you should try to find out how to remove this on the web because this program doesn't remove this major problem, and to my surprise they said if ya can't find a way to remove this you should format Shocked

This is a very scary problem!!!
Get the program and run it, I would like to know how many of you guys have rootkits installed.

in my old days i used to be a little hacker gneh gneh, rootkits are quite easy to find if you know how to install them. On the other hand, they aren't that harmful, and if they are, they alaways have secondary effects which causes them to be findable.

Rootkits have been around for quite a long time, but microsoft always denied it.It was impossible to take over the control of a window box.
Since the sony thing, rootkitscanners pop up everywhere, and everybody is freaking out. Why the hell would someone have it on their computer, it is only used as a backup to get back into already hacked computers.

Yea rootkits aren't that big. It's not like big worms/virus use rootkits nor spyware crap.
At least not that i know of. Hacker defender was a neat program to hide stuff back in the fxp days Wink Ofcourse you had a compile it yourself with some changes to make it undetected.

But most companies/schools just reformat their pc when it has been comprimised and they notice it (hudge traffic/scans etc.) So even if they can't find your stuff it won't help much.

But if you don't rape them, rootkits are great. But even without rootkits, a lot of companies / universities only notice it after a couple of weeks.

well I feel a little more protected with ProcessGuard that j.herrer suggested. Its pretty cool...every program you launch it asks for premission. so if ya have some rootkit prob it will catch it.

I tried to google " mestpage" and found nothing so try the proggie if your worried Smile
