Hi men i will try to make it as short as possible, specs below:
i7 2600K not overclocked, mobo ASUS p8p67 rev3, 8 gigs of some noname ram, 1x ssd ocx vertex2, 2x2tb hdd, 1x500gb old hdd, R9 290 ( non x) from saphire. SPU OCZ Modxstream Pro 600W. Nothing was overheating, everything kept resonable temperatures, damn, i wasnt event gaming that much, just usual net/work stuff.
Nothing in terms of hardware was recently added, I have this card and other stuff for year + (some parts like spu/mobo/ram for 3-4 years, dont remember exactly) and recently it I had shitload of BSOD with various errors:
- IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
- PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA
- APC INDEX MISMATCH
- SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION
Googled, it shows connection to drivers and/or memory, tested my ram with memtest, everything was fine, moves OS ssd to other pc, booted, cleared and updated my system, everything works fine with that pc, moved OS ssd to that fucked up pc and it run for 2-3h and suddenly crashed with no error. Thing is - sometimes it crashed during boot, sometimes it crashed after working 1-3 hours, sometimes it didnt even display any picture on my monitor while booting (fans and leds were working). One time I put only my OS sdd and it worked fine for a while, reconnected other hdds and it didnt boot (fans and leds were working, hdd led also, nothing happened, no singal to the monitor).
I tried everything, moving parts, checking what i can (I know a little bit about this and that with pc diagnostics), currently after wasting my 2 free days I carried my pc to the professional shop/service for diagonstics.
Problem is that this setup, cpu+gfx+ram is good enough for some time now and I dont wanna buy everything new. What do you think, could it be SPU not handling 290 + 1ssd + 2x 2TB and 1x 500gb? Maybe mobo sata ports are fucked up (tho it has 6 ports, I tried swaping them, no results, all sata cables are working fine - checked with other pc).
Any ideas, suggestions or advice are welcome guise, thanks in advance for any resonable posts. I guess I will probably have to buy new mobo/spu so any advices on that are also welcomed, socket 1155 for cpu, as for spu/mobo - it will be all good if it could handle 1ssd+3hdd and i7/r9 290 setup. Maybe 600W isnt enough for that?

I had a VERY annoying issue that ended up with me replaing the motherboard and CPU for no reason. When I used only one stick on the board it was stable, I tried both sticks separately and both seemed fine. The memory was bad but no matter how much I used memtest, Windows memory test etc. I couldn't get a single fault so I ruled out the RAM and figured it was either the CPU's memory controller or the motherboard. When I got my new board and CPU (went from Sandy to Ivy) the SAME bloody issue (crashes) popped up.
I got a friend to test the RAM (G.Skill ARES LP 2x4GB) and the same fucking thing happened to his PC. I borrowed a pair of Corsair 2x4 GB and the computer worked just fine.
Filed an RMA with G.Skill and got a new set after a while. Worked just fine.
Don't ask me why none of the diagnostic tools I used showed any issues with the RAM.
I suggest you tear out everything but the most critical, ie. leave system/boot drive in, 1 stick of RAM and the GPU, disconnect the rest and see what happens. If it crashes, change to the other RAM stick and try again.

At this point that crashing pc is already in professional service waiting to be checked (due to the fucking free days bullshit it will be diagnosed after the weekend), but I already tried removing 2 of the ram sticks, thing it it worked just fine for few years straight.
Anyway after reading your post I googled some more and found about some asus magick mobo switch called MEMok! (lol), afair some led was light up near the memory, ffs... I had cpu cooling which I was not willing to remove because its pain in the ass to put it back once again, one of the fans was covering the access to two memory slots (I had 4x2gb rams, all slots were taken). Checked only with that two stick which could be removed without removing cpu cooling. Good thing is it might be ram afterall, and ram is cheap nowadays.
cool story: when I had practices at some PC service company one time I had non booting system while everything seemed to be just fine, few people looked at this and couldnt find the answer and one guy came, loosen some screws on mobo and OS booted just fine

I have a 430 watt and you can see my spec in my sig. 600watt should be plenty enough.

600W isnt sufficient for that config? Im looking at recommended pc specs in various price ranges and they all have pretty low W on PSU, yet again - they are all using nvidia cards |
I havent seen/heard of a single quality PSU by OCZ. That's all.
ps. Please do not just stare at watts and make your decisions based on them. Mostly it is not the amount but the quality of power your PSU can deliver. Personally I wound't use PSU older than 5 years. Just in case it doesnt die and take half of my components with it. 5 years is pretty good time cycle to upgrade quality PSU to another one.

My suggestion is regardless is it the reason in this case or not replace that crap with something better. EVGA G2 (based on qality Super Flowers), Super Flower Leadex-series, Seasonic G/Plationum-series, XFX Gold/Platinum units (Seasonic), Corsair AX-series (Seasonics and i-models are made by Flextronics) etc...

Well, small update - just brought up my pc from service shop, according to them it was mobo/ram slots issue, with two ram sticks inserted it worked fine according to them, they removed 2 sticks which were directly under the fan of cpu cooling. Edit - checked, pc boots with 2 sticks (ones close to the cpu, under the fan are removed), with 4 sticks it doesnt boot at all (every fan is spinning but nothing appears on the monitor)
Well, guess I need new mobo for 1155, any recommendations?

that is z board? i can overclock cpu the same as i did on that dead asus mobo, its hardly a waste of money when my other option was to replace almost everything (mobo cpu ram cooling and so on)
