At CDPR they think we play the game with the monitor taped in our head.

General stability and performance improvements

I'm really afraid of this line Sad
Patch 1.03 had it and it took 10fps overall
Patch 1.04 had it and it added the texturesbias command that took 5-10 fps

And now patch 1.05 also has it so again 10 fps? Sad

Couple more patches and you'll be running this at negative FPS.

According to that I should have had a 20fps decrease on my 7950, which I didnt.

the game still runs perfectly playable on High-Ultra on my 7950 averaging on 35fps. Yes, I know that is not enough for many people, but I say its still damned fine for that 7950.

It really adds stability for middle class videos, but for 30-40 fps. Very Happy
I was running 50-60 fps but it had dips to 40 after patches is quite more stable, but it wont go over 52-53 fps and its 40-45 in 90% of the time.

Is there a big difference in graphics/textures quality between High and Ultra?

The visuals on high look very good, but I'd say the difference is visible, but I'm not sure if the performance impact is justified. When I'm on high I have constant 60fps, but with ultra high I have frequent dips. Maybe I'll try to have shadows on ultra though, they look sometimes quite bad during the cutscenes.

I have textures and details on ultra and shadows on high. Shadows on ultra costs about 3-4 fps depending on the situation and thats quite a lot since I really dont want to fall below 30 fps.

I hope that's only for the "large" version of the interface. I reduced the size in the options because I DON'T want a large interface when I play.
It's fine with me if they enlarge the big version for people who like it that way, but please, let us keep our small UI when we choose to.

+1

I could actually do with an even smaller version of the UI than the one the game allows you to use.

Damn... this city. 10+ hours in, still getting lost, still stopping and enjoying new views, even if on Medium. If Oxenfurt DLC is on the same level, I might as well buy it now.

Also, I am waiting for someone to make "10 hours of walking in Novigrad as a witcher" Very Happy

If it says "Total playtime: 4 days, 3 hours", does it mean 99 hours?

Something must be wrong with the stat then, since that's pretty much impossible :/

Yeah, time played is apparently bugged. I've been wondering how much time I spent with the game too - must be over 100 hours now, and I still don't feel tired of it. Quite the contrary, actually. I'm starting to feel sad it's gonna have to end, sooner or later Sad

Still have Skellige to explore, however, so not anytime soon Very Happy

Yennefer is so cool. It's not an easy task, to make up for two games she wasn't present in, but suddenly, I understand completely why Geralt feels so drawn to her... And why he can't stand her for longer periods of time too Such a great female character. She's like a pint of mead with a handful of pepper thrown in for good measure Laughing Irresistible but totally irritating at the same time.

Also, the soundtrack might be the best I've heard in a game. It's certainly one of the most consistent - almost every track is either giving me goosebumps or... Well, is just really beautiful and fitting.

Yeah I think something is wrong with it if it means actual time played. I haven't played nearly as much as it says I have.

I think it counts all the time while paused in the game menus as well. In fact, on the meditation screen, you can clearly see that time continues to tick away while you sit on that screen.

My time is extremely exaggerated too because I'll start the game in the morning and leave it on all day, minimized when I gotta do stuff, and playing when I can (which amounts to about 3 or 4 hours of actual playtime if I'm lucky).
