Gameplay could certainly be improvided but it´s not bad at all considering it´s just a tech prototype. Pretty much similar to other hack n slash games, except melee which is a bit faster. Sounds need a lot of rework (or are just missing), but again, it´s not even an alpha.

Getting 30-35fps at 4k maxed out with a single GTX 980, so I´d say performance-wise is what I expected considering it´s CRYENGINE. 60 solid fps at 1080p.

Here´s the video I recorded:

Seasonic 1000w Planitum - TT Level 10 GT - ASUS M5E - i7 2600k @ 5.0ghz - 16GB Patriot Viper 3 - Dell u3011 - EVGA GTX 980 @ SLI - SSD Samsung EVO 250GB - 16TB W.D. - G19/G13 @ Roccat Kone XTD - Razer Vespula - Xonar Phoebus @ Vulcan ANC/Corsair 2100 Vengeance - Logitech G51

I dunno, the battle mechanics still sounds too overcomplicated and pretentious to me.

But we will see.

Dem particles/environmental effects are glorious alright, really satisfying to see with the omnipresent oomphness Very Happy. Hope they nail the level design/loot system as well, because it really looks promising so far.

Environment interaction existed since Divine Divinity and was improved in Original Sin. Nothing new.

If you want env. interaction try Exangma/Sui Genesis. Now that's an interaction.

Tried to prototype, kinda cool. Has proper 3440x1440 resolution support but also looks like SLI doesn't work right now. Getting 50-40FPS on Very High.

Try to go to level 2 but suddenly game drops to 1-2 fps and game is unplayable.

Oh well, they got nothing but time to improve in all aspects

WOLCEN: LORDS OF MAYHEM - FORMERLY CALLED UMBRA - COMING TO PC THROUGH STEAM EARLY ACCESS ON MARCH 24

Open World Action RPG Developer Solarfall Games Becomes Wolcen Studio

NICE, France – March 2, 2016 – Wolcen Studio - the video game development company formerly known as Solarfall Games - has announced that its new open world action role-playing game (RPG), Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, is expected to release on Windows PC via Steam Early Access on March 24.

Successfully crowdfunded by over 11,000 backers on Kickstarter as Umbra, the renamed Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem’s Early Access debut will introduce players to the basics of its this hack-and-slash gameplay, progression systems and story. At release, players will be able to explore large segments of its expansive open world, which offers different opportunities for environmental destruction. Elemental abilities can react to specific features in the environment - water can conduct electricity, spreading fire can be doused by ice or water, and more. New characters can develop without class limitations, and there are already tons of loot, weapons, armor, potions and spells to discover.

Wolcen Studio will update Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem progressively with new mechanics as it advances through Early Access. Shortly after its initial release, players will be able to utilize one of the game’s core combat features, Apocalyptic Form, which lets characters evolve their special abilities and appearance according to each individual’s play style. Other planned bonuses include a fully fleshed out cooperative mode, advanced weapon and armor crafting mini-game, player housing, and the ability to transform player houses into challenging dungeons for the community to take on.

Nice to hear something new. I wish it was that the game was nearing completion instead of being re-branded and grabbing more cash.

Up on early-access for 20$
http://store.steampowered.com/app/424370/

EDIT: Going by the Steam community forum comments it's a very rough alpha build and also highly unstable at the moment.

EDIT: Heh, guess someone misunderstood that particular early-access FAQ question.
Quote:

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“you can expect at least 5 hours of non repetitive gameplay at day 1, and of course, we plan to update the game at least every two weeks.
Since our game includes various way to develop your character, it will allow you to replay the game and randomly generated dungeon using various play style, such as brutal force, vicious strike, fire, frost and lightning magic.
Of course, you can combine any of these skills to customize your build. The fact that elements reacts with each other (fire, lightning, water and ice) also brings a lot of interesting and deep gameplay mechanisms for you to discover.”

Although knowing the actual length of the current available content isn't bad either. Smile

A update is out which more or less redownloads the entire game as they accidentally uploaded a old build on the Steam servers, seems this particular problem has happened a few times now for several developers. Razz
