|

Since my current PC is getting old, I figured it's time to upgrade now with 980ti coming out, so I need some suggestions. This is what I currently have in mind;
Case: Case-Labs STH10
Mobo: ASUS RAMPAGE V EXTREME/U3.1
CPU: Intel Core i7 5930K
GPU: 2x 980ti
PSU: Corsair AX1500i (Or 1200 is probably enough)
Ram: Corsair Vengeance or Dominator (or something else?) unsure if 16 or 32gb..
SSD/HDD: Will use my 840 EVO 1tb ssd and 3tb wd hdd. Dropping the 1tb hdds. Considering replacing my 120gb windows ssd with a 850 pro 256gb (or maybe intel 750 pci-e??).
Cooling: EK monoblock for mobo/cpu, EK blocks for ram, EK blocks for GPUs.
3x560 and 1x360 or 1x280 rads.
Dual loop (one for GPUs, other for rest). Unsure if I will use 35x pumps or 4 D5's. Currently using 2x35x, but feel they're too noisy at high rpm.
Will probably use bitspower fittings, awesome quality, but also fucking expensive.
Also considering replacing my 2x 24" 1080 monitors with 3x (24" or 27"?) 1440.
I also just realized this will be quite fucking expensive, so any suggestions for lowering the price is very welcome
I hate you.

Course it will be, lol!
You want the best, then you pay the cold hard cash boy
You can save a few bucks by:
Scrapping the SLI shit right from the off (it will only cause you headaches in the long run, adds more heat, and more expense to the cooling system), stick with one 980ti, or a TitanX.
16Gb RAM is more than enough, don't let anyone else tell you any different.
The PSU is most important, so never scrimp on quality, but a good brand 850/950W 80+ will do.
1 decent 360 RAD (60mm min) will do, with good fans (push-pull), as will a good D5 pump/res combo.
Motherboard is a dream, but you can get the same performance from others far cheaper, if you don't need the added 'bling', and what you save, will buy you a CPU further up the ladder
That's my advice

I've been running SLI for a couple of years, and never had any problems with it before. Only good experience, so I'll stick with it for that extra performance
Got 16 GB ram now, and never really maxxed it out, so looks like I'll stick with 16.
And yeah, good psu is important. Got good experience with the corsair 80+, so I wont get any lower quality.
Got 360+240 rads now, and feel I'm at the limit with that, so I figured I'd use the case for what its good for and put in a bunch of 560 rads "because I can"
And PickupArtist, theres no way I'm dropping dual/tripple monitor for a single oversized one.
I hate you.

I'd wait a little bit with upgrading if I were you, next year might give the hardware market a massive shift with AMD's new brainstorm team bringing out the Zen CPU, as well as Nvidia's Volta/Pascal(?) stuff coming out with second generation HBM. Wait a bit. Or grab a cheapo R9 290X at cdon.no.

I guess I can never win this one. I want overkill, but at same time I feel it might be a bit money to use | Level up your sneaking and pickpocketing skills, problem solved

System needs USB 3.1 Type-A AND Type-C connections otherwise no sale.. with all the incredible benefits of USB 3.1 that system I want is still on-progress but not yet available. Replacing brutally-outdated SATA3 would be nice so I may have to go with a full on RAID PCI-E bootable SSD solution as SATA3 is ghey-arse sloooowwww...

Still full price in Norway.
How is running a dual CPU setup for gaming?

For gaming its total overkill, especially since DX12 is coming, not to mention it seems console ports cannot use PC hardware properly.

ya i used to get excited by hardware and playing x or y games with it. multiplatform/console-centric games = pointless
