Most cases only thing you need is an email adress from your university.

Yeah, I googled around a bit, created a Dreamspark account and confirmed my identity but I can't see W7 anywhere, unless you can somehow use Windows Server 2012 to cheat the system Very Happy

depends on the university and your departmend if you get access. my old university cut the access for people who dont have anything to do with programming etc after a few years where it was open for everyone

you know anyone there? they most likely got access to lots of keys. for every version x64 and x86 seperate keys as well as for multiple languages different keys (which all work on every version) from 7 over 8 to 8.1 and they get keys for the upcoming 10 as well. not quite allowed to give away those keys but no judge no executioner Wink

and still you might get yourself a key for you if you go to your service center for it stuff. maybe just go there with your laptop, replace the hdd with a blank an one and ask if they can install windows for you Wink

You need the specialist Dreamspark access given to you by your education people - the normal Dreamspark doesn't have Windows 7 or 8 available.

(I got it from Open university - just sign up from the Dreamspark page and see if you can get someone to sign it off for you)

I still have an unused Win7 key from MSDNAA. Says German x86, but it should work for every version, like Janz said.

I have a few Technet keys you can try if you wish, these were only used by myself, and are supposed to allow 10 activations per key. They were never shared, but no harm in trying, either works, or it don't Wink

So glad I can already reserve it. Who knows when they will run out of digital copies. Laughing

Anyway, I hope there will be a way to do a clean install (preferably properly activated, since I own a Windows 8 license) as soon as possible. Not going to update an OS to another major version.

even if "reservation" doesnt pop up for you atm: ms will be like oprah: you get win10, you get win10 aaaaaaaand youuuuuuu get win10!
