Fuck yes!
No more accidentally igniting/extinguishing stuff due to it switching in the last second.

Does activating tier 2 of a skill activate tier 1 also?

Nope!
For exemple Quen, tier 1 skill makes it exploded when broken, and tier 2 skill lets you keep it active while holding the button.
If my tier 1 skill isnt equiped, my "shield bubble" wont explode when depleted

Two questions, spolier free please:
1 - I'm holding to go to Skellige. If I go, can I travel freely back to Novigard to finish some quests?
2 - Will I find any way to improve lesser runestones? If not I will sell them.

1- yes
2- didn't find any way so far, so i'd say no.

It runs good on a GTX970, but that card is a powerhouse, it had to run good on it. The 780 is a fantastic card as well and yet the game runs very inconsistent on it... |

Another of my niggles about the bizarre levelling system. Eleventy gabillion talents and you only have 12 slots with which to use them, and many of the talents are upgrades of previous ones.. only you need to have the previous one too |
Yeah i didn't like this either. 12 slots is just too few, AND the pretty absurd point req between the skill tiers means if you want to get to tier 4 you're pretty much commiting for life on that tree (and getting LOTS of useless skills as filler). On the other hand, there's some pretty OP stuff in there, if you could just 1-point all the nasty stuff on the trees you'd be pretty much godmode

Someone else said it best earlier in the thread (I forget who, sorry!) that talents should be "active" when you put skill points into them, but you get BONUSES from slotting those talents into the 12 slots. That way you can get the powerful stuff in slots and still get the benefit of the various others, like Spray Fire for Igni, just by actually putting points into it.

i still think gta 5 world is bigger, i mean if you take away the fast cars and just run on foot or with a horse it will feel just as big and vast as this one

Correcting myself - there IS a way to convert lesser glyph stones into higher ones. There's a guy in Skellige selling the recipe.

Is it just 3x lesser => 1x greater like with the mutagens, or are the recipes more involved than that?
|
yeah, exactly that, 3x=1x.
Btw RDR IS a great game, the characters are fantastic, the setting is a masterpiece, but let's face it, 80% of the game are go kill/fetch quests. Can't compare to W3 quest design (or even GTAV for that matter).
W3 seems every quest means something for the world/characters, idk if i'm making sense. GTAV had lots of filler quests, sprinkled with awesome (i.e: heists and some quests like the Grove Street one).

^^ Not everyone is interested in MP, though - I really liked Online, but some only want to play singleplayer, and it's not unfair to compare only the SP component of GTA V to Witcher 3 in that regard. I guess if you want to collect the alien ship parts and the like there's still incentives after the main story is finished, but for me that's just filler akin to Ubisoft's flag collecting, so I jumped straight to Online after that.
And how on earth is GTA V more freeform than W3? Geralt can just fuck off and ignore the main quest entirely, level and gear up and do practically all the sidequests if he wants to, in GTA V you're locked out from new weapons and new side missions and activities until you progress enough in the main storyline.
I've already got more hours in Witcher 3 than I got out of GTA V, and I haven't even been to Skellige yet.

Velen + Skellige put together is pretty darn huge, plus arguably there's a lot more to do in Witcher 3 than in GTA V; if we exclude GTAO, there really isn't a whole lot in GTA V other than the main story missions plus a handful of side missions (the misc. activities are just bleh, who gives a shit about driving a taxi ). GTA missions are expertly crafted of course, but they're still linear whereas there's at least some choice in W3 - which is a HUGE deal for replayability. |
'If we exclude GTAO' - if you exclude what they've been working on most since release... yeah, I don't think that should be cherry picked and excluded. It's not a 5 minute DLC, it is a large part of what makes up GTAV and the experience on offer.
There's choice in GTA too, it might not be as comprehensive, but there are various points where you can do things in various ways. I also wouldn't call ~80hrs in Singleplayer 'not a whole lot', and I never touched taxi missions. There's also a LOT of randomness to it, and the world outside of missions can be very fun to mess around in. There are loads of incentives to keep playing. I can't say the same for this. Once TW3 is done and all quests are gone, I can't see myself fighting neckers/drowners/dogs over and over again without a carrot dangling in front of me anymore.
GTAV is also *very* freeform, as is Skyrim in terms of gameplay. TW3's combat feels like a auto-locked in gamepaddy sort of thing and I doubt it'll ever change much, even with mods, whereas GTAV already has multiple mods that can change this (and other things) quite considerably.
Both are very good, but GTAV has very clear (and similar) benefits. You could argue that R* don't know how to do worlds like TW3's, but we know that's untrue because there's a lot to do in RDR, and in a lot of aspects, it's very similar to TW3. With that in mind, it's pretty unfair to compare what is predominantly a third person shooter with an open world RPG.
Once the next TES, RDR, Fallout etc are out, I'm sure they too will blow the socks off of us in the same way that this has (though probably not in the writing department for anything Bethesda related). Those will make better comparisons. |
I wouldn't call RDR's side quests memorable though. There were some good ones but the quality of side quests in TW3 is the best we've seen in an open world game.

Same problem here. If I alt+tab out of the game, it sometimes changes it to borderless window too. As you said, it's not very noticeable, but enough for me to notice that the game changed the setting.

Main problem I've got with the game now is the NPC pop up. Only noticed it after 1.04 but seems some people saw it after 1.03.
Really immersion breaking.
Anyone know of a fix?
