Even though the Witcher 3 is amazing, i had the urge to check out the new House of Wolves.
For starters you have to go to the new social hub, the Reef, finally we can see more of the Queen and walk around in the reef, or can we? I was a bit disappointed, the reef is just a bigger version of the hangar on the tower, not to mention the when you want to go and buy Vanguard or Faction gear, or want to go to the gunsmith to reforge your new weapons, you still have to go to the tower.
Then i started playing the new story missions, these where great and where much better then the Dark Below missions. Even though you visit some locations from older missions i tnever felt cheap because the locations where a bit redesigned and you get to go trough some doors the where normally closed. More about the story/ending in the spoiler:
Spoiler:
I really liked that whe had to go back to the vault of glass and fight in the Templar room. It was really a little nostalgia trip. Its a shame that the story doesn't really pick up after that. The next mission you have to fight Skolas, the main bad guy, who has now control of Vex time-and-space technology and can teleport his troops, only to get caught and then the story is over. Why didn't he use his teleporting/timetravel ability to escape?
Then there is the new strike mission thats just a variation on The Devil's Lair strike, including the walker. But instead of Sepiks Prime being the boss, you have fight Taniks, who is just a variation on Aksor from the Winter's Run strike.
Next it was time for the new end game content, the Prison of Elders. Where you fight of waves of enemies with different modifiers en objectives. I was a little bit disappointed tbh. I played two games, because i had 2 keys to open the loot chest. But i gets already repetitive after the first time. There are only 4 arenas where you fight the enemies. And you always fight one of the races in their arena. The ending round is a random boss you fight in the same area, which is just a beefed up mob from the vanilla game.
Then there is Trails of Osiris, the new PVP content. I have to be honest, i don't play PVP in Destiny so i can't really comment on that, but as far as i can see you have to win multiple times to get the new end loot. Not much new there i think.
And finally there are some changes in mechanics. You can now reforge your weapons to get new random perks, you can exchange your materials and shards, etc.
All in all changes that where doable with just a patch, and which they should have done a long time ago before most day 1 players left the game.
TLDR:
- New social area, to empty, no feeling of importance and you still have to go to the tower
- Story missions, very interesting, but unfortunately its finished just when it gets really interesting
- Strike mission, just a variation on a vanilla strike with a boss from another vanilla strike
- Prison of Elders (horde mode), gets repetitive way to quick, quicker then the raids
- Trails of Osiris, im no PVP player so I can't really say, but looks like only new loot
- New mechanics (reforging, etc), nice additions, could be done with just a patch, and unfortunately a bit late
Dont get me wrong, i still love Destiny and i will definitely return. But for now The Witcher calls me again.
My addiction is just as strong as ever, I love the new content and have been playing daily while my backlog of games keeps getting larger and larger.
I play with the neogaf community, and they really make the game a lot more enjoyable. Really a great bunch of guys in the destiny community.
Prison of Elders is.... ok. The loot is disappointing, but the fights can be pretty fun, and they have rotating bosses and modifiers each week to try and keep it fresh. Still very challending to get through, and requires good teamwork and coordination
Trials of Osiris is really great, and easily my favorite part of the new DLC. You need to be a decent pvp player and have great teamwork to get through it though. You are rewarded for winning 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 games, and if you get 9 flawless wins the rewards are even greater.
Next on the destiny table is comet/the taken king which is rumored for September.

i like it so far, its decent.
You got a gjallrhorn from the end chest? Congrats
I am not a fan of the new weapons they released for the house of wolves. They all seem a bit underwhelming to me
