so, i guess it's mission impossible. nomen est omen, the game was so hard, it was impossible to end this game! ( very oldskool indeed )

nope, not mission impossible or donkey kong or lode runner, and obviously not dungeon siege or daggerfall

3 hours I'll post the answer if no one gets it.

you got me on that one. I'm curious did you ever play jumpman, ro did you just find it somewhere? I used to love that game and play it alot, its been recreated to run under windows without using dosbox if anyone wants to try it out:

http://www.classicgaming.com/jmanproject/

I'm also wondering since there are so many knowledgeable people here that one of you may remember a very old game based loosely on star trek (this image made me think of it)
It was black and white ansi that I recall. I downloaded it from a BBS in 1991 or so. I actually remember the filename was something like tactv521.zip (it definitely started with tact) you could put a bunch of star trek ships on a grid and do turn based combat with them, included things like the orions, and a few other lesser known races. You could also places starbases.

I've been trying to remember what game this is and locate it for years but I'm having no luck.

Whalesick is correct, that's Sentinel Worlds I. Too bad they didn't make the intended sequel, that game is still pretty unique and fun today.

I think I've played Jumpman once or twice, though I don't think it was that version. I guessed it due to a combination of the ancient graphics and simply knowing that Jumpman was an old one-screen platform game with ladders and ropes and a stick-figure character. Then I looked it up on Google and found the same screenshot on one of the first sites (which is what I assume you did).

That Star Trek game sounds a lot like Begin. I don't think I ever played the version on this site, but I remember the original on one of those big shareware disks that I used to mail-order as a child.

EDIT: Here is a site dedicated to Begin.

Someone mentioned Begin on another site, and it is a little bit similar, but its not begin. This one had an entirely different interface, and more races as well as the ability to have starbases, which begin doens't mention, and the version was definitely higher than 2 which they mention on that site as seemingly the latest.

Can anyone guess this one? man i used to LOVE this one =) Then came the day of the PC, and then i never played or owned another console (except the then-revolutionary N64).
I do love the PC above all else, but i do miss out on alot of sequels to real true classics.
Not to mention Echo the Dolphin, the original 2d game, man.. I wish i could play the sequels.

^^^ BTW, wasnt that the absolute first game to feature reflective water? ^^^

Baleur - that is Panzer Dragoon, but nobody got the last one.

BTW, if you havent owned a console since the Saturn, you missed out on Panzer Dragoon Orta for XBox. Best game on the system imo.

I checked all arcade games released in 1988 and this matches none of them that I've seen, I think you've got the year wrong on that.
