I agree with Sabin regarding abilities, it's just weird. Presenting all these abilities and limiting the use of them so much is strange. I understand what they tried to achieve, but isn't this too extreme? I'm pretty much forced to go for one branch in the early levels :/

Is it possible to outlevel MQs by a long shot? I never know how to approach such big game worlds Sad Are you guys just doing random shit or are you following a path?

I like crafting in this game, it's great.

Can I change the FOV without cheat engine? or at least can I play with custom resolution with letterbox (black bars), because on full screen the game fits all screen, doesn't respect aspect ratio including custom resolutions on the ini.

42 hours level 10 here. Just now arrived in Oxenfurt. Have yet to get anywhere close to Novigrad (gotta give Triss some chance for anticipation Twisted Evil )

I also wanted to say, Gwent is so fucking good! might be best mini-game in a game ever. The 4 factions/decks provides for a huge variety. Here's hoping for a future free DLC adding multiplayer Gwent Cool Face

Hell, I'm only halfway to level 5. In game counter says 19 hours, 30 minutes Smile Explored damn near every inch of the first area. Not the hardest difficulty but the one right under that.

Yes, sadly, you can overlevel and be too powerful for the story/MQ stuff, which is a shame, but we're forced into doing side quests first since CDPR in their infinite fucking wisdom decided that MQs will sometimes close off the ability to do other SQs. YAY! Thanks for that! Oh and no path, just random shit, I move to an area, comb it, move on, etc.

I don't know, I haven't let it happen yet Razz I'm just going by what many "tips and tricks" guides have said... main story/quest progression can sometimes make side quests closed off or disappear. I don't want to lose any content on first playthough Smile

The thing is you can also fuck up some quests by exploring - like you can actually find the griffin nest by accident and have the herbs in which case you miss the gay hunter and the herbalist.

This is why open world is not always a good prospect Razz It's in our nature to explore when given the opportunity, so designing an open world for us to explore and then making it so you can break progress by doing exactly what they recommend you do? That's just silly Sad

Do the main quests first! Oh but you'll lose out on a lot of side quests because we'll close them off Sad
Explore first! Oh but you'll break many other quests by stumbling upon areas you're not supposed to be yet Sad

Well can be good for future playthroughs though, you will see content you missed before, with such a big world your bound to miss things for sure, but it doesnt bother me really, iam loving this game so much i know this wont be my only playthrough Very Happy

Well it's easy to avoid it. Warn if progression is going to break quests. Do not spawn quest objectives unless the quest is active.

Oh but that doesn't break quests, you just skip some content (dialogues, gameplay) but the quest itself continues.
You just get a red notification in your quest that you didn't do something and went straight to the next point.

Anyway this game is absolutely fantastic and the best one I've played in several years. The attention to detail, the variabilty, the moral ambiguity, the characters, the combat, the exploration...I could go on for a while. This is the Witcher game I've always dreamed about since finishing the first one and reading all the books. So Much Win

I managed to download this http://www.primagames.com/games/witcher-3/guides/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-eguide/ prima guide. However, due to the complex structure of the online eguide not everything works. So you can use this one or wait for a scanned version =)

Atlas section - maps with all markers(traders, armorers, blacksmiths, POI etc) - doesn't work at all.
It is fully interactive when you browse it online but I couldn't save it for browsing offline. The rest seems to be OK

How to use it:
- Don't unpack it to a folder in a folder in a folder in a folder... Preferably a path to the guide's folder should be short, like K:\TW3EGUIDE

- Open index.html in your browser (if you have noscript installed or something like that then "allow" everything), select a section you want to explore. Pages MUST be opened as "Open link in new tab"

For example: LMB click on Quest Walkthrough Act I velen -> LMB click on Main Quest Bloody Baron -> RMB click on Hal Who Goes There and select "Open link in new tab".

You can find it on rin forum (TW3 thread, just search for prima) or PM me.

Just curious.. How long are ur loading times? Say, the first time you load the game from the main menu and loading a save after ,for example, you died.

The loading times aren't as quick as I'd hoped on my SSD, seems to vary a lot. TW2 wasn't the fastest loader, going open world doesn't seem to have helped the issue.

The narration on the loading screen is quite annoying, is there anyway to turn that off?

From main menu to world, around half a minute but can be longer. From loading a save after I've died it depends on how long I've been playing, usually around 1m+

Same here, especially since the new patch seems to crash the game more than with 1.02. :/
Everytime I gotta hear that narration. Very Happy

Other than that, going great so far. Have sadly skipped a lot of POI(for now),but doing most of the notice board sidequests and sidequests you get from main missions. almost 40 hours in...oh man I can see this going WAY over 100 hours. Crying or Very sad

I'm playing on hardest difficulty, finished first zone. Velen area now. I can easily dispatch anything and everything. Except Nekkers. I haven't been able to clear a single mob of them (they come in 6+ numbers). They just leave me no time to do anything. They attack so fast. Not even with Yrden. What the fuck?

I decided to go heavy attack focused, that seemed most challenging.

How do you guys kill them?

I'm playing on the 3rd difficulty (which I guess is the "hard" mode), I fight Nekkers and Drowners in groups by separating individuals and focusing them down. If you go at one quite aggressively it's quite easy to separate them from the pack.

Keeping Quen up when fighting groups of Nekkers and Drowners is really useful for when they manage to get a sneaky swipe in.
