was playing witcher 3 last night on my laptop, standard install, yada yada, played for 4 hours and saved the game... installed it this morning on my main pc, went to load my savegame from the steam cloud and I get a whinge that I cant because I need the beard and hairstyle DLC... so last night I have or had it on my laptop install... but not on my main pc install this morning... lolwut.

but what I played last night has me impressed, big open map, lots to do, shitloads of details, dynamic weather and enemies.

Somehow the fighting system with all the dodging, rolling and jumping around to avoid getting hit reminds me of the close combat in "Kingdoms of Amalur".
I am still in the starter area, but sometimes it feels you need a lot of luck (beside good timing), too. Fighting lev. 5 drowners or lev. 5 wolves or wargs with your lev. 1 witcher may normally result in instant death, but sometimes you are lucky and you are able to kill even a group of monsters on a higher level.
button mashing may not be the royal way to success, but it definitely works.... Very Happy

Wow this is such a great game - everything on ultra except gayworks on my 280x at 1080p and suprised how Schmick it is!

Gayworks even just for Geralts hair just kills performance.

First scene after the tutorial after the sleep looks beautiful really good Smile Got around 40-47fps there in 1440p everything on max but motion blur and hairworks off.

Mouse control is fine. Damn let's start this shit Smile

So you basically never played Dark Souls? Especially Dark Souls 1 controls are perfectly direct and precise. The first thing that popped into my mind when I tried the parcour tutorial in W3 was how awful the controls are and how nice it would've been to have DS 1 controls in here.

If you lock onto an enemy Geralt moves like a tortoise, when he is not in combat he walks like a granny and if you walk a bit faster he suddenly has the turn radius of a fucking truck!

You paired a Titan with an i3 ?

Yes. I still have to see a CPU-bottlenecked game.

Tried any of the Battlefields (3/4) no doubt your fps is lacking there due to your CPU Wink

Mhhh what kind of AA is this now? Dont see a drop in FPS when activating it so it is FXAA probably? Certainly not MSAA or SSAA. Activate or deactivate it? Unsure at this point...

Activate hardware cursor in the graphics menu! Last option at the bottom.

Edit: Ah, the quest log too.

You sure it's not some sort of quote from a peasants book or something? There are similar things in the Polish version to show that the poor can't speak properly.

Don't ignore quests or leave them for later – tackling the main story might trigger their disappearance.

Hate that Neutral

You are right. I didn't have all the settings on Ultra, and when I turned everything on I got only 30-35 fps. So much for GTX Titan.

Haven't gotten that far into the game yet but the way I read it it has to be the on setting for that option, off would mean it does a default world state, importing a W2 save is pretty much self explanatory and then on means you get to simulate a Witcher 2 save via a series of questions later on during the prologue.
