He makes it sound like people are claiming that CDPR had the whole game finished with those amazing 2013 graphics running flawlessly and then suddenly for no reason massively downgraded it.
We get it - game development is an ongoing process - but that was a standart they set THEMSELVES - nobody made them release those "gameplay" trailers when they were not sure about system specs or whether they could optimize it.

Oh well, there's nothing anyone can do about it. Just more lies and backpedalling and fraudulent behaviour that we've come to expect from any major studio. I'll certainly go into Cyberpunk 2077 with a lot more scepticism than I would have before, that's for sure.

Old builds (2013) had no PBR, all materials looked flat as fuck. Not the case anymore.

Yep, now they look washed out and bland. Also Physics Based Rendering physically rendered 60% of the npcs and 90% of the particles out of the game.

Backpedal harder, you duplicitous twat. This is what keeps my annoyance bubbling about all this, the fact they simply refuse to admit what is patently obvious to anyone with eyes, and that they keep spinning this is as a good thing and how it's "better" now. Now they're claiming that all the earlier footage was "trailer and not gameplay" - despite having "GAMEPLAY!" written all over every piece of promotional material - and that it's unfair to compare recent gameplay footage to that. Even the 35m "gameplay" footage.

Changing to PBR had nothing to do with that. They cut out NPCs and reduced particle effects simply because the consoles turned out to be anaemic laptop-level systems and couldn't handle the load.
