Looks just like TW2 or worse on the streams Sad
The wilderness is especially bad compared to the tight jungle and forest in TW2. In conversations at least there seem to be some good lights and shadows cast on the characters, so the meaningful parts may look quite good on PC, but still. In Witcher 2 everything except for the rocky areas and generic NPCs had great visuals.

Seems likely that the console versions at least were heavily neutered to try and maintain a steady cinematic framerate. I would be unsurprised to see a lot of LOD pop in the PC version as well. Never having made an open world game before and adapting an existing engine to it sounds like a recipe for trouble to me.

It's probably still going going to be a decent / fun game, but it doesn't look as good as Witcher 2 graphically. Witcher 2 although designed with console in mind was still built for PC first, then "optimized" / downgraded and released for console later. This time they build for lowest common denominator and go with a single release, much easier to manage post release.

Lots of people deluding themselves that postprocessing and AA is going to somehow improve texture quality and poly count. Laughing

Textures and models are of a high quality though (see the recent Ciri shot)

The bitching is mostly due to apparently missing filters and effects which could come back at any time (water ripples are back in btw. according to the leaked streams)

Didn't the same thing happen in Watch Dogs and then it turned out that the missing stuff could be easily re-enabled?

Even after re-enabling that hidden stuff WD never ended up looking like in E3 2012. Looking better yes, but not that kind of better.

If the same thing would happen with Witcher 3 (taking as point of comparison the 35 min. gameplay video of last E3 of course, the previous cinematic bullshit doesn't count), then it would be an epic fail of the same proportions WD was, technically wise. Still, I don't think that's the case with this game though.

well there definitely will be some easter eggs and stuff from the books - obviously game-only gamers doesn't know the whole history about interactions of Geralt/Yen/Triss/Ciri - do you will definitely have some advantage in this case - that you will understand some plots nd stuff

Yea, called Gwent, we've know this for a year. (And probably bitched because the XBox got a few extra cards in the CE box.)

What is going on with the character movement in this game? Everyone plays like Geralt can't decide if he should go slow, run, turn right or turn left... Neutral

Might be due to the fact that there is no toggle run button... ? Hope camera controls are good, at least.

EDIT

Well, stream is offline. Smile

why are ppl here are so eager to see the streams?

there are literally hours of official gameplay in mugh higher resolution in the official forums.
http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/34394-LINKS-ONLY-Witcher-3-News/page18

the next 10 forums pages form the link above contain many many gameplay clips form the official event. i dont think any stream can show something new (gameplay wise. not storywise) that isnt shown there.

In my case, just curiosity how it looked on PS4 (in the final build). Only watched 10 minutes, I'm not really into watching games or being spoilered.

Also, I get massively annoyed to see them derping out so much. I know everyone makes mistakes while they game, but urgh every stream I see it seems like it's their first time gaming

I checked to see how the game looks and runs on consoles. Noticed that PS4 had noticeable FPS drops, compared to the streams from Xbox One. Which hopefully means the developers worked closer with Microsoft and as the result of that, the PC's version is optimized. I highly doubt that's going to be the end result, but I'm still hoping.

Yes, Microsoft paid CDPR to make the Shitebox leading platform. This does not help the PC version in any way. It does the exact opposite.

The water ripples are very basic though. There are no effects when using signs over water, only ripples from walking/jumping. It doesn't come close to the water effects we've seen in the swamp.

Game doesn't look bad though. But I'm tending to agree that, apart from the (main) character textures, the visuals were much better in the Witcher 2.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
