I dont know, skimming over it hitting the highlights, unless Im taking it out of context because of that...it seems he wants to fuss about a "hardcore racing sim" that's lack luster because of its lack of generic gamepad ease of use and driving, how bad cars handle trying to drive with a controller, and how remapping the controls to a gamepad in a game geared towards 'hard core sim fans' as he puts it, is a pain.

It sounds sort of like hes going "I'm a hard core race sim fan, but this game, driving with a controller, and its damn near impossibility to, will be its downfall.. mediocre/10 at best score."
Granted, hes fussing about the console versions, but then to me if you use a console for 'true racing sim' your doing it wrong to start with, dont expect hardcore anything on a console using a gamepad.
And blaming the games FPS problems on AMD cards on the game for some reason.

AMD here and the game runs fine here considering my poor rig. 1080p, everything on medium, advanced settings like detailed grass are off and bloom off (idk why but I have big frames hit with it on). I'm waiting for a R9 280 so I can crank some things up a bit despite some bottleneck I'll experience.
Lazy console peasants and journos, there are like 15 settings to mess with in the configuration menu for the controller. I use these settings for the X360 controller:
Steering Deadzone 5
Steering Sensitivity 0
Throttle Deadzone 0
Throttle Sensitivity 30
Brake Deadzone 10
Brake Sensitivity 15
Controller Filtering Sensitivity 50
Speed Sensitivity 60

Bam! Game plays perfectly fine with a controller.

The bickering is amazing. I'm not quite the biggest fan, physics ain't nothing special, and some tracks are quite poorly made, but that review is almost nothing but pointless rant.

The game is far from being perfect, I know it well because I have been part of the development community from more than 2 years, but to say the game is a flop is just silly! Laughing

First up, we’ve got a video comparing the FPS issues between the PS4 and XBOX One versions of Project CARS.

Both struggle to reach 60 FPS, and dance around the 30 FPS range during hectic on-screen moments. This sort of thing shouldn’t happen in a console game, and you’re an idiot if you allow yourself to accept this.

If people base their opinions on earlier builds of the game, then they're very unlikely to change it now - first impressions do tend to stick.

I personally find this game to be much easier to get into than AC - I'm not suggesting this a good thing in terms of realism, but it certainly helps to enjoy it more.

I think too many people compare this game to Forza/GT, and wonder why there are not 500000 cars available.

Yeah sure 500000 cars. Ford Focus Blue, Ford Focus Red, Ford Focus Yellow and no interior (Hello great driving simulator!)

Pcars is a better game overall than AC imo. It's surely more fun for me. The AI is greatly improved.

This game, oh men. So damn good.
I had already tried some of the alphas months ago so it's not a complete surprise, but still, it's such a great pleasure. I was so looking forward to it that I went to the university this morning with the laptop just to download it faster.

Haven't even started the Career yet, but I tried many different cars and tracks under different conditions: this is simply the most complete driving game ever released. There's no doubt about that, the competition ain't even close. (r.i.p.)
Awesome rain conditions, night racing, pit-stops, a good single player mode (hopefully, I'll find out soon), talk about having the complete package. Razz
Perhaps the physics aren't as accurate and deep as rFactor 2's, but this doesn't mean much really, since once you disable all the helps the handling feels so responsive and rewarding, that it's basically like playing a modern version of GTR 2. It became even better when I disabled the dampening and filters from the Advanced Settings (unfortunately I'm forced to play with the derpad as you know), overall the settings are definitely more polished than they were in the alpha.

This is definitely a sim, not a simcade, nor something akin to the other consolish stuff with clubbing and watered downing. And as if the glorious amount of contents wasn't enough, it's got the best graphics ever seen in a driving game to date (hands down really), and on top of that, it runs well too. Laughing Fuck yeah Slightly Mad men!

Yeah, drive around a bit, pick some hookers at Monza and then go back to GTA V for some serious racing.

Firstly, I'd recommend ditching the RLD crack/etc and using the 3DM one - you can find it + DLC fixed INI on RIN or most any place right now. That will give you all the DLC cars for a start. Secondly; I had no trouble starting career with the RLD version, sorry :\

For me it is Very Happy
It may require some tuning in terms of deadzone and sensitivity, but it can be definitely enjoyable once you get used to it.
I actually like the default settings, with the Advanced Filters off, though you could try fearwhatnow's settings as well and see if they suit you better (everything is very customizable in the game).

Another question, does this have some sort of free roaming? Or at the very least some nice long races in known highways or roads like in the NFS Porsche games?

Game is good with the gamepad but there are lots of settings and you'll pretty much have to try all of them to find what's right for you. I can safely guide you to disable any sort of deadzone though Razz

As for free roam: None. But Nordschleife is quite long (21km) so are California Highway and Azure Coast, all of them are 7minute+ (if you drive really really really fast!)

You never had the game. You simply invested your interest in the development of the game by donating money, and a perk of that was to play the unfinished article previous to release.

Anyone who did what you did would have been given the same information about not getting the full game on release.

And such is the way of the wonderful business model of this fine company.
