|
 |
So today it finally died, couldn't get it recognized in either PC's, thought I had a backup of the data... I forgot that I actually removed it and wanted to do a fresh one, and never got around to that.
Only shop in town had 0 SSD's in stock and showed me a 2,5'' mechanical when I asked for an SSD...
So ordered one, but since shit always breaks down on Thursdays or weekends I'll have to wait till next week for a new one to arrive. Atm on an old drive and yup... once you go SSD you can't go back
Yup, at these times you miss living in Belgium where I was just 10 minutes away from 8 pc shops in a town just like this.
Ah well, first world problems... I should stop moaning and just get on with driver/program installs.

Yep, it's an universal rule that when something goes wrong it has to happen right before weekend!

Yeah haven't tossed it out yet, so I'll be giving it a shot when the new one arrives.
Not looking good tho, seeing it didn't get recognized in the other pc, but I was planning to run seatools anyway as a last attempt.
This is just so I don't hog my fiancee's PC and I can watch F1 this weekend.
Already downloading updated drivers, programs and such for that install.
@JB nothing really essential, it's more the pain of having to restore everything and setting it up. Got some older backups for some of the stuff and gaming/downloads and such were on other HD's.

Meh... SSD for storage. I don't see a reason for it (yet!). So why wait for it
Or are you one of those that has just 1 drive and partition

They don't deliver on Saturday in Sweden?! Or you want one from that store specific so you don't have hassle if something goes wrong? |
I think they do (or at least deliver late on fridays since I have picked up packages on Saturdays. Post is a bit slow around here and they tend to make a lot of mistakes, so I already expect it to be next week.
Went with the store that shipped the fastest. I'm pretty used of RMA, so I don't really bother much about which store it comes from (well I do the minimum and check if they are trusted). It's already in the postal system so maybe with some luck I get the weekend to sort everything out.

@sausje
you're probably using a version of SSDLife Pro which is full of bugs.
Edit: looks like I was using the bugged version. Updated to 2.5.80
Spoiler: | |
Anyways, we shouldn't rely 100% on SSDLife's report:
Quote: | Why is it impossible to calculate the date at once?
It's a simple mathematical problem: in order to calculate it at once, we need to know at least the date when you wrote data to the drive the first time, but unfortunately, drives do not provide this information. That is why we need some time after the first launch of SSDLife to monitor how intensively you use your SSD in order to determine its average load. And as soon as we can calculate the approximate average amount of data written to the drive per day, we will be able to determine the time it will take you to use the entire lifetime capacity of the drive, which means we will be able to calculate the date when the lifetime of the SSD will be over. Of course, this date will keep changing depending on how the intensity of the drive usage changes.
Why does the date change dramatically?
In some cases, the estimated lifetime can change dramatically. It happens if the amount of data written to the drive quickly increases. For example, if you install some large game. But do not worry, literally in a couple of days SSDLife will figure out that it was a one-time upsurge and the disk is back to its normal amounts of written data so it will correct the estimated lifetime. |
Made in China is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.

Ah yeah that's better
Still, you can say all you want, but the usage i've had on my drive is very high, surprised me that it was still at 92%

hahah yeah, it's something that remained from the old days, hating to boot up my pc, so i rather let it on 24/7 haha
Plus i've every drive shared on the network, so if i want to watch series in bed on the laptop, my main pc needs to be powered on since it has the download drive in there
But the 7 years makes no sense tho.. Vertex 3 isn't that old even.. I think i've got it for like 3-4 years now.

Wth you on about, I posted already and been around most of the evening/night yesterday and today xD
Not so much this evening tho, had to catch up on some F1, had laundry day and we had movie night
SSD went fine, all in all a good change. Double the capacity and 1/3 of the price than my first one and faster so can't complain on it breaking down I guess.
Had an OCZ Vertex plus, went with an OCZ Arc 100 this time... Wanted to go for another brand this time, but pricing and availability got the upperhand.

*dslfjhkslfds* Should have gone for another brand
Month later and the damn thing is dead, waiting for response of support to RMA this bitch :/
Ah well at least I didn't wipe the mechanical drive from last time, so just had to stuff that one in and most stuff is functional to wait for a replacement.

That's just utter bullshit, first hand experience, EVERY SINGLE vertex 3 that i build into pc's here are still very alive and kicking, even mine, that i, without a doubt, use about 25x more on average per day than the average user here.
