So.. In the new apartment it suddenly swarmed with ants and the house owner said he told me about it, which he obviously didn't cause i would've asked and expected him to correct this problem before renting it out again. Obviously it's a colony inside the house if they keep reappearing each year like this. It's "Black garden ant" which is after sweets apparently, but they just kept swarming under my windows without going further into the apartment (at least yet). I know from where they enter. There are small cracks under the windows, but i don't know what issues i'll face if i just seal them shut.
Anyone know a way to effectively combat these damn creatures? houseowner said i could deduct the price for anything i might need to buy for this from the rent, so that's good at least.

Cinnamon seems to have at the very least helped. I won't celebrate quite yet though!

Holy shit ants are annoying. Appartment reeks of cinnamon and once the smell starts to dissipate, they return in full force. Tried sealing what holes i've found with silicone, but i've stil not yet seen exactly where they come out. I observed one trying to get through a tiny crack. Saw his antennas sticking out, but i just sealed that too just to be sure. Fuck what an antagonizing situation.
