overclocking, as removing the page file, is also a customization, unintended by the manufacturer, done by the user on his own accord, with no guarantee
and most of the time involving preparations from the user, such as installing better cooling solutions, and with page file removal - installing more RAM
yes other applications eat ram, but we're talking about gaming, and I said in my first post to close any other applications
and no, saying "someone told me" or "I read somewhere" isn't countering
so far no one has actually said, that they are experiencing a problem with it, right now
and yes, I play 50+ games, every day, for 10+ hours, games from 1990 and games from 2015
I've had many problems, mostly with DEP protection, but 0 with page file
and yes it's how forums work, if you disagree, open your own thread

Yes.
But all my knowledge comes from the 'evil overlord' that is MS, so i'm willing to bet most people would cast that asside in a heartbeat.

Damn, I love being right |
Well if someone could point out a downside to it for me, Ill run one. Im not against it, just never had a reason to, or heard anyone I know in hardware management IT argue against not having one outside of a server environment.
Otherwise you being right about people not running one without a problem, wasn't really a far fetched prediction

No. That's why he is asking, silly - he wants someone to explain | Me too

That's a bold statement that's completely false. Games stutter when they need to transfer data from RAM to video memory, which are both very fast with high bandwidth. Imagine what happens when data they expect to be in RAM ends up being paged out to a drive? Drives can have hundred times slower access times and many times smaller bandwidth than RAM. |
ok i see what you are trying to say but it's unfair "comparison". in this scenario you run out of RAM and system starts to depend on paging file entirely, then yes, it might cause slow downs depending on where you have paging file (HDD/SSD/RAID0 SSD etc), but by this time if you had no paging file game would just crash so.. it's silly to compare it like that.

False? I got not one crash after I enabled it again. But you win if you wish.

To clarify, when I quoted him wasnt saying that wasnt what was causing it for you. Was stating I also ran it for 100+ hour without a crash without one.
Was more saying that it wasnt a universal pagefile & gta issue, but more specific to your system a pagefile & gta issue.
Id never claim that it couldn't be a system specific issue that doesn't effect others, machines are so widely varied on hardware. Thats make no more sense than me also saying "You got a BSOD with a SSD? false, I got SSD also and no crash must not be it."
Most I could do is state that SSD isnt a universal issue of causing BSOD for people.

This. People usually forget that and claim random crap as definite fixes for everyone. Anyone with some clue to actual problem solving knows this is hardly the case.
One can just bring it forth as possibilites to be investigated.

Got your point That's common sense IMO. I don't get why people claim it's wrong if it's working for them without problems.
