I can't enable MSAA on my OCd 780, it cripples framerate by 33%++, even just 2xMSAA will hit performance enormously in most places. Sure it might be 60fps still in some instances, but the majority of areas in the game will plummet to low 40s when enabling it Sad

yes it's really demanding. i got it on 2x and everything works great but if i go higher fps will drop. just thought if i can enable it a titan x could easily handle atleast 4x

Too low dips with 2xMSAA on my 970 so I rather play without it. I just prefer smoother gameplay.

Most of the time I get away with it being to the 50's but there are places that it goes in the mid 40's so... no thanks.

Yup, that's it. I'd rather have a near constant 60 (some v.rare dips to 55 depending on time of day for the shadows and amount of traffic/peds) with everything cranked up... and a bit of jagginess with FXAA, than janky performance with MSAA Sad

It's definitely the same for me too, MSAA can be a tough cookie, especially when there's also the other framerate-killer in action, the evil grass xD
2x doesn't generate any slowdowns only if I keep the advanced sliders disabled and avoid grass settings >High. It's a decent compromise though, since the game looks pretty damn good anyway. Razz

Aye sir, the game looked incredible and I'm beyond happy that my earlier fears proved to be unfounded.. grass was a killer so I left it on "PS3" (really should be named that rather than "normal" Very Happy) but everything else was cranked and it looked, and run, great. Very happy!

it runs better than expected on a gtx 850m 2GB Vram, Intel i7 4702MQ 2.2GHz. Almost everything on High.

So everyone forgot that Max Payne 3 was exactly like that with MSAA? Very Happy

Sabin, put grass on high, it doesn't take that much more performance and looks much much better. VH and U are retarded anyway, they are self shadowing the flora on itself. Laughing

Grass on high brings it from near-permanent 60 to a stuttering horrible 45-55 mess when you pan the camera in the direction of grass, or drive in grassy areas. I tested it extensively and the constant back and forth between 60 and whatever it felt like dropping to at that moment was just too irritating.

High on grass works fine here, but very high kills it

Not exactly performance related, but I found some stuff about shadows.

Extended shadows makes shadows look worse at close range:

You can edit settings.xml (documents/Rockstar Games/GTA V) to get better looking shadows. Here's mine and I haven't noticed any FPS loss so far:

<Shadow_SplitZStart value="1.000000"/>
<Shadow_SplitZEnd value="0.970000"/>

Here's my (very) old setup:
- core2duo @ 3Ghz (doesn't fit the minimum requirements)
- 9800 GT GPU (barely the minimum)
- 8Gb of RAM (what's recommended)

I'm surprised the game even starts.
Well I had to look for a link to download the latest patch 'cause it wouldn't let me launch RSC.

It's also playable. FPS go from 15 to 34, around 23-25 on average.
So yeah, it runs much better than I thought.

Is there any fix for stopping the game from stuttering after 20-30 minutes of gameplay? Very annoying. It's basically me doing
one mission or roaming around before the stuttering makes it unplayable. Sad

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Several temporary fixes have been mentioned here. Alt-tabbing to windows and back to game or turning off v-sync off and back on both work fine for me.

Also make sure there's no major drains in the background, like a browser.
