Gnnh....

We have a big customer err... expo on Monday - Tuesday, so I have to be at work, just in case someone finds bugs in my framework :I (Great idea to develop NEW stuff for customers 2 days before the day it's supposed to be shown Razz )
Rage

Fyi:
No free time given for working on weekend, OR any kind of pay. not even normal salary.

Forced upper management contract rocks Razz (I'm NOT any kind of management, just the contract states so, so they can force overtime without pay)

pretty sure that's illegal

we get 1 day off or 150% pay for the day if weekend, or 200% for holiday

It's on the gray area Razz

There are contracts which are 'all-in', but normally they're only given to really highly paid people.

Free tip: No pay, no go.

Simple as that, they can't force you to do stuff for free under any circumstances.

your monthly salary is for a specified worked days each month
if you work more days than there are working days in the month - you are eligible for 1 more pay day for that month

etc you get 1000eur for 1 month that has 20 working days, that means you get paid 50eur a day.
if you work 1 less day, say you got 1 day of unpaid vacation - you get 950eur for that month
if you work for 1 more day, say you work a saturday - you get 1075eur for that month (150% for day of weekend)

it's not a gray area

he can't fire you for not wanting to work for free
if he does
1. he doesn't deserve you
2. get a copy of the email requiring you to work on that day for no pay, the financial authorities will be pretty interested in that, so will the court

I know dat pain of having to sit there "just in case".

But StrEagle has a point mate Smile

You should review your contract. It'll have some kind of indication in there as to what the money is for; can be for 40 hours per work week, can be stated per day or can just be for X days per month. No matter which it is, you're at least eligible for some form of compensation. Either the hours you put in today count towards your contractual hours, giving you an extra day off or it counts as overtime, in which case it has to be compensated in some way.

Weekends being 150% or always counted as overtime depends on the contract, country laws and any sector "standards" (usually negotiated by unions). That's not necessarily the case everywhere.

The contract states that all overtime is covered by the monthly salary Razz (there are still national laws, such as no more than 50h / week over some duration)

Well, the day wasn't that boring in the end. Designed some new features to for the next version of the framework Razz

I don't understand the contract. So they can make you do overtime, while you get the same salary? Is this normal over there?

Yep. I know plenty of people who do extra 1-3 hours everyday and don't get paid shit for those hours.
