Whether or not that was rendered in engine is fairly irrelevant. It sure as shit won't look like that in game, especially not on consoles.

Oh I have no doubt the graphics in the game will look just like in that cinematic trailer in the PC version when maxed out, but that's not the point, the point is that we need to see actual gameplay which is what they promised and didn't deliver.

The game does look impressive enough that it makes one skeptical. But if I look at BF4, it looks really good and can run at 120 FPS on current high-end hardware. I imagine there is a lot DICE can do with that headroom (especially if you lock it down to 30 FPS Cool Face).

As for gameplay, I guess we will see it in two months at the latest. We might get to see that demo they have been showing between now and then, but, from what I understand, that one was also quite scripted.

Some explosions or when the big fucking AT-AT dropped to the ground didn't look that good. I think it was ingame stuff with a few special video effects filters and shit. And especially without that much AA it will look worse of course as always. Perfectly smooth 4k AA stuff always looks stunning.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/star-wars-battlefront-destruction-system-explained/1100-6426768/

""We won't do excessive destruction just because we can.""

LOL.

"We're using destruction where it make sense but also working to create something that is authentic to the universe."

Don't give us that bullshit.

Yes, I'm sure you want to make this game as authentic as possible Mr. Random hero-drop spawn of Satan! Nothing is more authentic to the universe than finding Vader's undergarments, putting them on mid-battle and then have yourself transformed into Vader.

Fucking cocksmoker.

Oh.

And nothing is as authentic to Star Wars as -huge- 20 versus 20 battles.

LOL. 20 guys versus 20 guys. It's not even a Battle, its a tiny skirmish. A tussle. It's not a battle!

I can't wait to re-create all my Star Wars battle fantasies in your tiny mini-playfield with a tiny playercount, where we can't destroy the stuff we want to destroy even. Sounds like a disgrace to me. A grenade should blow a hole in any wall regardless of whether this asshole developer thinks it is 'authentic' or not to have it happen.

20 versus 20 players.
No conquest mode.
Restrictive evironmental destruction/no terrain deformation.
Hero-kits drop randomly around the maps.
Small maps.
Cluttered maps: Either by trees, rocks or narrow canyon corridor landscapes.
No space battles.
No space and land hybrid maps.
No squads (only "partners" aka two-player tag-teams).

I applaud their ability to make a Star Wars game while at the same time skipping/neglecting/leaving out so many possibilities. It is almost a feat by itself.

They didn't have time to add more content and features? What's up with this shit.

No mod support.

Again I have to crack a smile at the fool explaining the lack of destruction/terrain deformation with "authenticity". Dude. If a grenade blows up, the surrounding terrain should feel its destructive effects, it is the idea of keeping the fiction rooted in reality sometimes that makes these fantasy worlds intruiging.

What is this, a Battlefront for ants!?

I miss the old times, when getting more infos meant more interest, and sudden boost of the hype factor. With this one (or with practically all the AAA multiplayer games released these days) it's the other way around! The more infos we get, the more disgusted we become.. 'I have a bad feeling about this' xD

It's a shame really that there are so many constraints, as per usual, or deliberately (plain) bEAd decisions that could undermine a potentially fun game. We can't have nice things with the big greedy sharks around Razz

EA DICE has all the resources available to them, yet the game they present seems both restrictive as well as limited in terms of modes and content in general. The innovation is = 0. Instead we see EA DICE actually strip out features that were available in both previous Battlefronts as well as the Battlefield games. It doesn't make sense. The usual saying of "one step forward, two steps back" seems applicable to this year's Battlefront.

Its weird becoming frustrated over a new Star Wars game getting made, especially when one finally gets made after so long, but at the same time it is infuriating when you know they aren't doing everything they can to make the game all it can be.

It's like they don't want to make it 'too' good or something. Maybe because they know they have to top this game when they release EA DICE's Battlefront 2.

Its like with the Battlefield series removing the Commander, and then re-introducing the role as a 'new' feature in a later game. It is a cheap, shitty way to go about game development.

It makes perfect sense. This is their business model. Barebones base package, as much as possible stripped out to be sold as DLC.

This seems right in planetary/space combat mode. But, like BF2, space battles had everyone fighting in ships, then once the shields were down, you had people in spaceships and troops fighitng in ships, it was awesome, kinda like Titanmode in BF2142 (on a bigger scale). I don't get why they say that. That screams DLC all over the place, fuckers

I was so pumped for this game..but no squads? Really? Small and cluttered maps?
And no conquest mode? dafuq?

BF1 and BF2 had that.

God, such a let down!

That said, the percentage of good to bad Star Wars games across the board has always been fairly low. Even if EA manage, by some miracle, to put out at least one decent one, it will likely be amongst a bunch of dross.

LOL even Forbes (Forbes is a leading source for reliable business news and financial information) say 'fuck this shit'.

Source: http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2015/04/18/youd-have-to-be-crazy-to-pre-order-star-wars-battlefront/

"you’d be absolutely bloody crazy to pre-order Star Wars: Battlefront."

"I say this not just because this is EA we’re talking about (though that’s a real factor) or because there have been major launch issues with DICE games like Battlefield 4 and other EA titles like SimCity. I say this because preordering is generally anti-consumer and the bribes you get for it rarely outweigh the potential risk."

This will continue to be the case until finally gamers say No both to Pre-orders and No to buying games piecemeal through DLC packs instead of getting a full, bug-free game at release.

I bet gamers would (I know I would) pay more for the actual game if it meant getting a full game without all of the hooks of DLC and microtransactions.

It would have been so refreshing to install a new Battlefront game Day 1 knowing that you had the full game, nothing was cut, and that DICE had put its heart, mind and soul into its creation.

Its killing my enjoyment of gaming in general and observing how this trend just becomes more and more elaborate and overt makes me very annoyed. It will take decades to undo this cultural damage.
