seems that switching to borderless window somehow improves performance with those tweeks... but vsync indeed does not work, but it's not required. anyway to cap 60 fps?

jup, i also play in borderless window mode, runs better i think..
and yes u dont need vsync, u can also limit the fps like i do..with afterburner, or nvidia driver settings..

RTSS kinda belongs to afterburner, its required for the OSD..
This is teh Function for limiting FPS with afterburner (RTSS).

It doesn't work. The "Landing Page: On" is on here, it was always on, and yet the game instacrashes as soon as you try to aim from a car *if* you've recently aimed and thrown an item. If you "quick throw" with G while aiming a gun it doesn't trigger the crash, but you can't throw more than one sticky bomb with that method as pressing G again detonates. Still, It's Something.jpg. I've tried every single other recommended "fix" and nothing works, it's all snake oil rubbish, there is no fix unless it comes from Rockstar themselves so I really hope they're working on this because it's a nasty fucking bug and reproducible every single time.
Shame too as, so far, that's the only thing marring an otherwise amazing experience. I have never encountered a game with such perfect world streaming before - I genuinely cannot recall a single game that doesn't hitch or stutter at least *sometimes* when crossing the expansive world at high speed ... until now. I can fly across in a jet with "Stream High World Detail while Flying" enabled, I can drive across in a friggin' sports car or superbike, and it never hitches, never freezes, never stutters. It's amazing.. damned near voodoo magic. I do have to make sure Chrome is closed when playing though, if Chrome is open while playing the game it will start to hitch randomly after a short while playing, as long as Chrome is closed; perfect gameplay for hours upon hours.

@sabin1981 Finally I can use the possiblities of the better cars and keep them at top speed, on PS3 the streaming got horrible if you were a bit fast enough. Now this is no issue anymore.
Have you tried the new user account thing alongside setting it to DX10? Fixed it for most people.

Well I found DX11 to be the most crashy for me. I could play for hours in Online without any issues, but I also followed the advice with making a new User account and following the instructions from the reddit post, which kind of helped with that.

Same here, on the non-Steam version too. The option is on but it doesn't "do" anything, when I click the desktop icon.. it loads straight into story mode. Perhaps because of the Social Club crack and being "offline"?

i tried DX10,10.1,11 , disabling antivirus,antis pyware,spybot,disconnecting from the internet, different options people said still crashed on the jewel heist...managed to finish by ramming the police cars, but it ain't fun knowing that next time will be the same...  paused the game
if anyone tried this or can try it and can tell if it worked would be nice

I think using quick-throw solves most of the crashes, at least that's what helped me on the final heist.

There are 79 story missions going by the Wiki which includes the 12 or so side missions. Just look at your completion numbers in the stats as it shows how many missions you have done.
